Max sorry Vevo, Google is your friend.
"At the time of the Abbasid Caliphate, such methods of cooking rice at first spread through a vast territory from India to Spain, and eventually to a wider world. The Spanish paella,[5][note 5] and the Central Asian pilau or pulao,[6][note 6] and biryani,[7][note 7] evolved from such dishes."

Why did Red Gov't close the Malls ?

ALL Malls follow the strict protocols.

Vevz,

Have you have tried their callaloo or the fried chicken?

Massy always seeks the best interest for their customers and the service is excellent.

They could have my last dollar.

Yes my brother - Callaloo and Fried Pollo is good.

My Vene family however prefer to make their own EVERY Sunday .

"Callolo" was actually first made in Venezuela .

Trinidad had Spanish influence since 1895 and Arawak and Carib used to make it with the Vene Indians.

So Venes are really original Trinidadians.

Callaloo is a Vene dish .

Google it :D

No no no ..

The Spanish people were here in Trinidad FIRST .

Almost 99.9 % of "traditional creole" Trini dishes originated from Spanish influence .

Example : " Pelau " is really a version of Spanish Fried Arroz etc.

Africans came from the lineage from Grenada , St. Vincent , Barbados etc. and they brought yam and dasheen.

Very soon peeps will see Vene Supermarkets/Supermercado similar to the Chinese Supermarkets .

Many many Vene restaurants and street foods included doubles are being taken over by the Vene .

A good example of business activity by Vene is in Woodbrook and Trincity .

I don't think so. The Chinese supermarkets are backed by super-rich Chinese who invest in the supermarket and send workers from China. They are also able to send Chinese manufactured goods at low prices to sell for profit in TT.

The Venes that are here are from mainly Eastern Venezuela which is mostly poor. There are some who put their last funds into small food businesses in TT, but they don't have supermarket money. Plus they don't have access to the native manufacturing like the Chinese.

Yeah but plenty previously humbled Syrians can now afford to relax and hire Venes to do their gyro work.

Lots of venes here are poor yes, but definitely not all of them.

Lots of them living in gated communities and in One Woodbrook apartments. These same venes will fund others in their business ventures. Already happening just Covid put the brakes on it.

But last time I went to register a business I was surprised how many venes were in the line with me too.

If you know Venes, they will laugh hearing you saying they are hardworking. They see themselves much like we see Trini work culture. Oil and gas made both of us lazy and dependant on the govt. The Venes that you see are hardworking are so because they are desperate to earn for themselves and for their family in Venezuela depending on them. That kick in the pants will make anybody work.

There were always rich Venes here. Before Venezuela fell they would come here as a cheaper alternative than the US to learn English. Plus they would easily move up the Trini social ladder through our desire for light skin and exotic Latin culture, hence they got opportunities opened to them that might be closed to others. But the recently arrived Venes are not wealthy. They are the rural Easterners or the middle class who run out of money and had to leave. They are not bringing supermarket money.

Plus it is also about buying stocks to fill your grocery. If they going to compete with trinis' they will lose. The Chinese have an edge with the Chinese market. Today Venezuela produces nothing. It makes more sense for a Vene to buy trini goods here and sell to Venezuela than to open a supermarket here.

Habit is mostly right BUT I can tell you given my interactions with many Venezuelans over the last couple years - they aren't as naturally lazy as most trinis and have far more ambition.

It's mostly biased though as those who have the balls and means to leave Venezuela are also not the average lazy Venezuelan who supports Maduro.

Also, they have good business sense, they going into things that have low startup costs, hairdresser services, massage (real ones), food cart/catering, construction services etc.

In curepe they have at least one vene bar as well.

They are smart and hardworking, give them credit.

They have legal status and they might end up being one of the few things that can improve our economy.

Selling white cheese, cachapas and used cell phones on FB is not a supermarket with a storefront, inventory and paying taxes.

They have already started their grocery business .

They do it online and are very successful .

Before the pandemic they had a nightclub, many barber and hair salons, small scale restaurants and other small businesses. However, supermarket is a stretch though.

Maybe a stretch for a lazy Trini with no ambition and no education and a gun .

Syrians came to this country with a shirt and some cloth and now they OWN Trinidad.

Chinese did the same . Everybody know the Indian story .

But the rest - well what can anybody really say

Vene is the other wave of success .

The more you tell them NO ..

The more they will succeed .

When they get into Gov't then we will see real change :D

Thats for US citizens. Not my country not my problem.Trinidad is my country, even Tobago could haul if they want. This anti-Trinidadian xenophobia from other Trinidadians is ridiculous. Here's what. You like Venezuelans so much, go there illegally and stay there.See how much you like it

You are sooo wrong in your evaluation .

Trini will always be sub standard even in their thoughts

Many Trinidad people and other investors will back Vene because of their work ethic.

Vene are opening bank accounts and getting credit cards .

The confidence in these hard working peeps is why they have work permits .

They flee due to their Gov't 's incompetence .

T&T people will flee as soon as borders are open .

And they are NOT rats .

You seem to be a bitter person when comes to people who like to work and succeed .

X2,

When Trinis start fleeing and crying and begging for visas and OVERSTAYING in the US.....do we blame them or Rowley?

The Vene are well educated . And extremely smart .

Educated peeps with Spanish Hot blood ALWAYS succeed .

It's Maduro and the Army that is the problem . And then USA .

It's the sufferers that are the problem with Vene and T&T in general .

^^

Stupidity increases each and every day .

Pricesmart has always been a SUPERMARKET or GROCERY .

They sell everything - it's a Modern Supermarket .

Trini Gov't under Daily Singh and Row Row thinks a supermarket is a Central Market such as Tunapuna Market, Chaguanas Market etc.

These "Gov't markets" are NOT sanitized and COVID protocols are NOT followed .
Some of these so-called Gov't managed businesses "malls" are now CLOSED.

But the complete stupidity exist as follows :

By allowing T&T Peeps to visit Pricesmart without membership cards is NOW allowing MORE people to congregate.

Everyone will see this as a "FREE TING" and I bet PEOPLE LINES will be longer.

So wait and see Daily Singh and Row Row cry -cry -cry stupid alligator tears as another failure looms.

AGAIN.

smartmanism not only in groceries, in the market tomatoes was $5 last week is $12 this week, bodi move to $12 a small bundle and $60 for the big bundle, cabbage was $5 now $8 and the list goes on. no food place buying vegetables so it should have excess and drive prices down but like someone on the chain greedy and jack up all prices.

You are correct . Bodi price have increased .

Red Gov't should have Bodi as a commodity on the NYSE ( or let me translate .. New York Stock Exchange ).

As the price of Bodi increases Red Gov't will make more $$$ than WASA.
