So guys, there is a new premium crossover SUV in T&T. It's the 2020 Mercedes Benz GLB200 1.3T 7-seater priced at $455k.

The 1.3t seems anemic at first but the output numbers are not bad. I'm thinking its closest competitor is the Tiguan 2.0t and a Forester EyeSight.
If you into brand and prestige over features like sunroof, premium sound and awd then Benz just brought a major upsetter.
Look more competitors joining the upset party, now available in the smaller 1.5t engines:

That 2 series Gran Coupe rel ugly boy. Weys.
X2 not bad but I find it hard to classify that as a sub compact SUV
Looks more like a hatchback. Just like the GLA.

TBH that GLB dosent look half bad although not my cup of tea. Price is inviting however if Benz decides to give this the 1.3 T Plug in Hybrid setup like the CLA250e etc it will make it very very competitive. Same for those those more affordable BMWs for example X1 and X2 when the 1.5 T Pug in Hybrid goes on sale possibly 2 series GC. Its great to see these premium brands come closer and closer to most persons affordability. But that X7 tho

When the vehicle first came to our shores, I went to see it and the vehicle nameplate is Diahatsu, not Toyota.
But at the end of the day, it still carries a Toyota badge, so there's that perception, I guess...

If youre referring to the K5/Optima that came late last year no it hasnt. Frankly thats an interesting story because that car is going through a name change globally and will be called K5 which has been the name in the Korean market for some time. Also bigger RHD markets like Australia and the UK wont be getting it due to poor sales. So with all that in mind I doubt we will see that vehicle be sold here locally which is sad I personally was waiting for it to land here.

That's too bad. Looks like such a bad ass car. What model year Optima do we currently have? I suppose it's the 2.0 version as well?
