Best new items at CES 2017 - Consumer Electronics Show

Postby Duane 3NE 2NR » January 5th, 2017, 11:33 pm

That time of year again

some interesting things stand out

BLINK Security Camera
They claim the batteries lasts 2 years!
Image
https://www.amazon.com/Blink-Security-D ... 0172DDZ5E/

Power Ray Aquatic Drone
This aquatic drone from PowerVision dives down to 100 feet under the surface, live-streaming 4K video to your mobile device or even VR goggles. No worries if your dream dinner dwells deeper than that, because it also detects things swimming under it with sonar. If you still have trouble catching a bite with all that robotic assistance, it'll even cast a line via remote control. No price yet.

Kingston 2TB flash drive
Kingston Technology has announced it will sell the world's highest-capacity USB thumb drive next month -- a 2TB model that can store up to 70 hours of 4K video.
The new DataTraveler Ultimate Generation Terabyte drive uses the USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) specification but not the new 24-pin fully reversible Type-C plug connector.

Dell XPS 13
The new XPS 13's hinge allows it to flip 360 degrees and work as a tablet. Users can opt for either an Intel Core i3-7100U, Core i5-7200U, or Core i7-7500U processor with Intel HD Graphics 620 integrated graphics. 4GB, 8GB and 16GB configurations. Users also have a choice of 13.3-inch full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) InfinityEdge display or 13.3-inch QHD+ (3200x1800 pixels) InfinityEdge touch display.

Dell 8K monitor
Dell today announces a new 32-inch, 8K desktop monitor with 1.07 billion colors, aluminum construction, 100 percent coverage of the AdobeRGB and sRGB color gamuts, and a monster US$4,999 price :shocked!: . The UP3218K has a resolution of 7680 x 4320 (for a pixel density of 280ppi), which is as many pixels as you’d get from four 4K displays or 16 Full HD panels. :faint:

normal price for a state-of-the-art laptop. i wonder what it's sound is though, or the NICs, must be a lot of new features holistcally for that price.

SONY'S NEW TV OUTPUTS SOUND DIRECTLY FROM THE SCREEN

Acoustic Surface
Sony's newest Bravia television sets have all the features we've come to expect in high-end sets; HDR, 4K, and OLED panels, but they also do away with speakers entirely. Yet they still produce sound.

Is it some manner of sorcery? Not quite. The A1E series has Sony's Acoustic Surface technology, which vibrates the display itself and allows "sound to be output directly from the TV screen."

I usually say CES is a pack of tata (because... well ..yeah), but the honda bike shows some promise, and the flexible phone thing has some promise for wearable tech. Things looking good this year for real innovation. Glad to see more than just iterations fo old concepts and some real peeks into the future of technology.

out of all this here, the flexi fone, and the thin tv seemed most interesting. the 2tb flash drive,,, already use ssd, so not interested. the speed because of usb 3.1 is a big advantage, but that was due to the time period it is in.

when the price of oled 8k giant tvs come down , wake me.

the good thing about amd's ryzen tech, is that it will force nvidia and intel into an efficiency competition.
that, and the shrinking high capacity fast storage will mean wonders for the mobile tech in the coming years.
