S_2NR take it from me, Duane, Bezman, et al. DO NOT BUY A LOCKED iPHONE.

You are buying headache. okay? try to get a factory unlocked one for cheap. if not, buy something else.

Nothing beats the ability to update and have legit support for an iPhone than having to worry day in day out whether i could update safely or if this gevey thing gonna fail. And the Gevey ultra relies on a jailbreak otherwise it works EXACTLY like a pro or older. and FuriousMod is a pain sometimes.

Not that I know of. I guess it's your option to do so when processing the order

they usually do include a printed invoice but sometimes customs here removes the invoice and forgets to put it back.

Interesting comparison by Minimally Minimal of Apple vs. Samsung product strategies, including their current U.S. device lines. (Spoiler: 3 vs. 134). No doubt there’s a debate to be had about when both lack of and way too much choice become frustrating.

So I guess this is as good a time as any to jump into this forum.

My iPhone 4 got stolen. (long story...and not a pleasant one.)

I do not have an internet plan on my phone. I only used wi-fi.
Using the find my iphone app, cannot locate the phone. I assume it is off. I have been calling it all the time to see if it recieves any calls but it goes straight to voicemail.

since the phone is offline, it can't be found on google maps. I 'locked' it from www.icloud.com, and put a message with an alternative number in case someone gets it.

Problem is:
The lock and the location will only take effect when the phone connects to the internet. My friends say I should 'wipe' the phone, to remove all personal info from it. I disagree. The wipe will nto take effect either, untill it connects to the net. And if it does connect to the net after I choose to wipe it...I lose all monitoring ability on the phone. The 'wipe' feature permanently severs that link.
So I think the lock feature would make more sense.

What are you guys opinion on this?
(note that, the if you enter the wrong 'lock' code ten times, the phone automatically wipes.)

My only hope, right now (presuming the thief replaced the sim...which I doubt)
Is that they turn on the phone, and it conects to the net. (either through their sim card, or automatically if they pass by one of teh various parts of the country I have been to before and connected to wifi in the past.)

sorr for your loss,
I tested this feature Already but you should of wipe then lock , anyways most likely ur screwed because you do not have a data sim active in it

If you had one active you would been able to do this once it is powered on :

Find your iPhones location immediately
Lock it one time
And find yourself down there one time to recover your phone (if you don't have a gun dont go alone )

So next time you have and iPhone check me for the unlimited data so if this happens again u will have a very good chance of getting or finding ur iPhone back

you do know the guy is right... if you wipe... you lose ALL link to it... so you wont even be able to lock after.
justsaying.

I believe there is a way to call apple and get them to lock the device. Or should be.

If I put in a GPRS enabled SIM in an UNLOCKED iphone 4 will I have to configure any settings on the phone for me to be able to use data on it?
If so does anyone here know where I can get it done?
I am not currently on an iphone plan.

you wont have to do anything - the phone automatically gets the data and MMS settings from the carrier

no it's fake definitely not a gevey/applenberry product
there's no unlock for 5.0 & above base bands unless they were preserved from iOS 4.

try this tho. works on the 3GS, 4, and 4S.

read the description also.

Here’s an amazing utility that every iPhone, iPad or iPod touch owner should be aware of. It will recover data from your iOS backups in iTunes, but only if the backup isn’t encrypted. I have a work-around in this tip for the encryption problem, but you’ll need to be using Mac OS X Lion.

You can get a copy of the application from the developers’ website. It is free, but a donation is highly recommended, since using it even once to recover images is well worth any kind of donation. Plus it just works and it is easy to use.

Once you download the app, copy it to the applications folder (/Applications) on your startup drive and launch it from there. You’ll be presented with a window and a button, Read Backups, which you should click. After clicking you’ll see something like this:

Image

Select the backup you want to extract from the list, click Choose and you’ll see something like this:

Image

The backups for each individual app can be restored. More importantly, however, check out that last item, labeled iOS Files, since it has a lot of important information. It has the photos and videos on your camera roll and a plethora of other goodies.

I recommend you download the app and do some exploring to see what you can get out of it. If you happen to accidentally try to recover data from an encrypted backup, iPhone Backup Extractor will go through the motions and actually recover the data, but you won’t be able to use any of it.

Now about that work-around for the iTunes encryption. If you are using Mac OS X Lion, you should consider using FileVault 2 to encrypt the drive containing your User Accounts Library folder, which is usually on your startup drive. By encrypting this drive, you don’t have a reason to use the separate encryption provided by iTunes since it would be redundant. Of course it also adds an extra layer of protection, so you’ll have to decide about whether you want to use this tool to recover your data or not. It won’t work with iTunes encryption enabled on your backups.
