The foreign used car industry was borne during our last major recession when it became virtually impossible for the average citizen to purchase a vehicle.
The price points for various classes of vehicles had gotten so high during the preceding boom that when the bottom fell out, lower income earners just couldn't afford.
Unfortunately, the dynamics of our present situation is in line with the past and with the liquidity crisis we would be faced with within the next 24 months, many here who can at this time get a loan may be faced with the true horror of a recession.
Prices are going up and disposable incomes will go flat and then tumble.
The reaction of the state to our economic circumstances is at this time really quite uncreative and out-dated, they may need to reference the USA experience 8 years ago (now is not the time to kill peoples spirit), now is the time to create opportunities and manage them well.

This is when the public transport should have thrived.

Persons were unwilling to utilize public transport, but due to economic reasons if they were forced to in mass, there would have been an initial teething period but overall it would have eventually worked out better.

Continually allowing more cars (local new and foreign used) to be entered onto the roadways (which can only cater for a specific number of vehicles) was a poor move by all governments.

What a joke. I would use public transport if it was reliable; as would many of my colleagues.
Public transport is not readily available when the working population needs it therefore they have no choice but to find alternatives, such as using their own vehicle.

The E-W Corridor probably has better transportation that the rest of the country.

I agree, heck i have two cars just not to have to travel cuz my work is too important to risk having to depend on public transport!

E-W have all d good transport, where down south where i from, where mind you giving this country all the oil and gas, have nothing, don't even play mad and wait till 6 to reach the last taxi stand before your village or at least reach sando so yuh cud sleep by library corner KFC.
