but maybe u shud take a browse thru the mega trance thread

don`t take castles in the sky to be the epitome of trance lyrics

they are much much better song writers than slayer and bogir

but as were on that convince me won't you ?

post me a trance track with epic lyrical content

This is the acoustic version of the same trance track and both version sounds good; the singer executed it very well...

^nah man, that COULDA NEVAH be as good as van burren, especially when 200,000 Euros/second adds that final scintillating layer in the bridge and completes the experience of standing in a sold out crowd of over 150,000...all wearing fall '09 A|X...

That's what I'm talking bout bro. Underground for dang life! I don't really business how much ppl likes what. I listen to tons of norma jean, hardly anybody likes them. So what.

Trance reminds me of a fashion shows and catwalks.

the thing is most people listen to trance/techno on the same systems that belt out thier movado and vibes cartel and the piss poor quality of sound reproduction will never reproduce the detail in the recordings of the music for you to appreciate what other instruments have been used and the melody of how well it was integrated into the "drum machine and a repetetive loop"

Just asking, what trance is built on, where did it come from? Like rock came from blues and jazz and stuff and dancehall came from reggae, I wanna find out its roots.

Naka, without looking it up I think it all began in the warehouse type clubs in US. The music began as house, coming from the word wharehouse. It started when artists would use any elements or instrument to record noises. This is how house was born. Now house you can say was the beginning of it all. Electronic music branched off into many many sub genres.

You have house , progressive house, techno , tech house, tech trance, vocal trance, chillout. SO many. At this time the borders of what you would call 'trance' are blurred. There are subtle differences lets say to what is considered trance, or progressive trance or progressive house and house.

Unless you study it a bit what does it matter though. There are artists in Trinidad creating unique caribbean blends of electonic music that I would know myself how to title it. So usually, trance being the word people know best is used quite often.

The fact is most of what Armin plays is considered progressive trance with his sets actually starting sometimes with progrssive house.

I personally asked Armin what his favourite music was as I had the opportunity to play him a track when he was here in zen after party. He replied that he loved house so I threw on a track by Paulo Mojo - 1983 (eric prydz mix). It is a favourite of mine and if you listen to it, its simplicity is hypnotizing and uplifting when the moment is right. This is what I would want to hear to get me in the mood for a night of fun lets say.

Later in the evening I may want a more enerrgetic song and thus a faster beating track with melodies, valleys and peaks to stimulate my senses and really get dancing. A good trance would be ideal in such a situation. A good dj is everything in a party!!! They get you in the mood, build you up and take you to places in your mind that you will enjoy. Memories perhaps may be conjured up etc.

DOnt mix up a producer with a DJ, they can do both but DJ usually mix or remix where true producers like Dash Berlin produce. Each have their own talent. Tiesto, I am not sure where his roots are since to mix as a Dj you must be somewhat of a producer since even if you just mix a party you are essentially producing an experience for the crowd. You must know what music evokes what feelings and use the songs appropriately.

Trust me to be a DJ os very difficult lest to be #1.

they play this for the black crowd. Ask any black person which trance/techno/dance(they think it is all the same) they like and they would be like "sandstorm faddah!!!!" its the only one they know.

Suckaballs.

cant believe Guetta is #2. guetta is Shitt.

Armin still can't touch Tiesto in class.

And W&W should be #1.

ehhhh but i now readin what tiesto said here ...

http://www.djmag.com/top100/detail/2587

Since we spoke to him last year, much has changed, notably the fact that he has turned his back on the music that has made him one of the most successful, in-demand DJs on the planet. Those heading for a Tiësto gig expecting a night of frisky euphoric trance will now be exposed to something quite, quite different.

"The biggest thing to happen for me this year is my change in style. I play more eclectic, much more house-driven, and like, indie pop music. The whole trance part is deleted from my set now. It is completely gone. It was a revolutionary thing for me."

good edm is good edm nonetheless
