LF Leg ham

Postby redmanjp » December 19th, 2018, 12:41 pm

Where has leg ham still available for Christmas? This year we haven't bought the regular size only 3 ppl would be having lunch this year (the rest of my siblings abroad) so we wanted something cheaper.

JTA has lots depending on the size you want. Up till Monday gone they had a 'special' on 5 - 5.5KG Great Foods Leg Hams for $ 227.00 each.

all the locally made hams are made either by albrosco(blue ribbon, erin, smithfield) or Great Foods(brother who break away)

I really doubt there are much differences between them
the real difference is the individual cut that you get which can vary quite a lot depending on the type of muscle flesh etc in the particular one you get which is basically a lottery
you could be lucky and get one with nice uniform cut or unlucky and get one with a myriad of little muscles in all directions

the boneless ones are worser, a true hit and miss

12 minutes per pound @ 325°F, straight bake (better flavour IMO).
