at least the prices are consistent with the rest of the region (not that i think it's fair overall)
good thing yall aint see BYD prices in singapore, you might get a heart attack
Singapore has 5m ppl and just a bit bigger than Tobago though. By policy car ownership is meant to be as difficult as possible there.i_code_and_stuff wrote:idk how much of that is capitalism vs lack of regulation and lack of competition.

Nothing will force dealers to sell at a lower price as long as we have a managed float.PariaMan wrote:Do like the US and limit perks only for cars below a certain value.
This will force dealers to sell at a more affordable price
It is very simple if the government was really interested in helping th small man.
At least they could try. No reason to give tax exceptions on very expensive electric vehicles.Supra GT-FOUR wrote:Nothing will force dealers to sell at a lower price as long as we have a managed float.PariaMan wrote:Do like the US and limit perks only for cars below a certain value.

There are exemptions on electric and hybrids and they cost as much or more than ICE vehicles.

im 99% sure they're not. also several of the cars they advertise as "new" are actually foreign used. there's a couple other similar ones that have popped up in the past few months - it's all a bit shady.greggle71 wrote:Prices almost 100 k cheaper than Lafast
small warning on this - if one goes this route and something happens, it's near impossible to get parts & support outside of the dealers' supply chain for BYD at the moment. probably not a huge concern though given that most of the newer models are quite reliable (seal/sealion/dolphin/shark). me personally, i think EVs in general are too big a risk to not have support and warranty
