Time to rename it to unemployment day, cuz d amount of people out here who looking for a job and can't find work it eh funny

And of the ones that do eventually find a job, plenty of them just barely getting a salary big enough to pay for passage and buy the cheapest of food.

In this country, labor day is a friggin joke and a stinging slap in the face for workers.

Labour day is really about the unions and not about the workers. Problem is that the unions aren't interested in expanding their waning memberships.

PSA is a good example, why are they completely uninterested in expanding their membership into the tens of thousands of contract workers in the public service.

what everybody said so far is true

union "leaders" go march , beat their chest & mamaguy talk their union members & d public as though they genuinely looking after their best interest , but they all have their secret political alignment\preference , they living it up nice with their nice pay check & perks while d members ketching dmc for 0-1-2% salary increases ...

unions are nothing in TT. hundreds to thousands losing jobs from Petrotrin, TSTT, WASA, TTEC just to name a few and unions execs also get their throat buss. just another day to drink rum in sweet TT.

unions just another form of TAX to business from gangsters. bandits do it now i understand as protection money. unions cut from the same cloth.

With a credit union, financial statements are made available to members. Do unions show their members their financials?

Labour Day is on a growing list of observances that no longer relevant to T&T.

They were playing music on a truck, what time was this?

By 7 ish every thing was done and by 10:00pm the stage and scaffolding seating was being disassembled.

Road was quiet only transport persons and police were on the road in Fyzabad.

Overall they had a descent turnout from the unions but they were a fairly serious crowd seeming only there to hear what the leadership had to say, no fete afterward. The vast majority went home or left for home by about 4:00pm-5:00pm.

Look what other people do on 19th June each year.

Every Year, This City in Italy Dunks a Politician in the River

1687118506-0.jpg

Before you get too excited, I must manage your expectations: the townsfolk do eventually pull the politician back out of the river. The immersion is a temporary affair.

Trento in northern Italy holds an annual celebration called Feste Vigilane to celebrate the life of their patron saint, Vigilis, who was martyred after ordering Christians to throw an idol into the Adige River. My Modern Met explains that part of the festivities includes the Tonca, a ritualized and comedic dunking of a selected villain into the river.

A dramatic presentation of a Court of Penance determines who in the town is most worthy of being dunked. Politicians are a favorite choice. At the time of the Tonca, the convict is lowered into the river three times to the amusement of the population.
