WTK about raceing gas.?

Postby moses » January 23rd, 2006, 11:46 am

I have a twin cam 16vlav carb engine.GA15
And i was wondering could i use raceing fuild on it.?

which one better to use on a ga15 carb engine ?c16 or c12?or some other.

Could i use it like nos ? inject it into the carb when ever i want a boost. or would this F up the engine.?

you won't really feel a difference and certainly won't be worth it unless you have forced induction

So what's so special about these VP racing fuels? Higher Octane numbers to run at higher compression without pre-detonation, or is there more to the story?

^^^ there is some more to the story

but I believe that you have the general idea

basically the boost in octane

Moses you will not be able to use it like NOS

with a carby engine the effects will be minimal

they can affect O2 sensors too Rudman

forced induction(tc,nos,sc) makes the mixture more combustible and thus more likely to detonate in the engine
higher octane fuels suppress detonation thus allowing that power to be still made and not allowing the engine to be blown due to detonation
higher compression engines also need a slightly higher fuel to be at optimum operating efficiency otherwise when engine knock is experienced the knock sensor if equiped would reatrd engine timing thus reducing power

thank you all for the information.
you see the GA15 carb maxes out @160kkmph so i want to break that to about 180kmph
So ill buy some race gas and try it with an external pump and a 2 liter of race gas injected directly into the carb and ill let you know how it feels.

Thanks to "venum and Dave"

Heheheh...

You need more than 160kmph? OR you want acceleration?

all engines, NA and FI can benifit, but you feel it more with Turbo cars without re-tuning because of the already compressed/boosted state of the fuel/air mixture in the combustion chamber, but BOTH need to be tunned for race gas to reap the real benifits..

higher octane also means less chance of detonation, so more radical timing and of course in a turbo application, more boost, and those two together with a good ratio of fuel means allot more power than with regualr gas which is suseptible to detonation problems.
