Help needed SR20DE Problem

Postby BlackXT » January 22nd, 2006, 4:51 pm

I have a problem with an SR20DE in a Bluebird Arx. When the car starts or is running there is a lot of water coming out of the exhaust. What could be causing this?. Note that there is no water and oil mixing and the head gasket was changed as we thought that was the problem.

Thanks

while water is coming from the exhaust, do you loose water through the radiator too?
if you do then you should perform a leak down or compression test since it may mean that the head gasket is blown between the water passages and the exhaust side of the head or a cracked head

water is a normal by-product of combustion. when the car is cold, the exhaust piping is cool enough to condense the water vapour back into water.

if it does it after the car is fully warmed up or after a drive, then you have problems.
if it only does it on cold start, then don't worry, it's normal.

I will find out from my father-in-law if the water from the radiator is going down.

I was told that the water starts to flow after the car has warmed up and that the flow is heavy. The water in the radiator is not going down. I've told them that that is a strange one.
