Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Co-operation
3rd Floor Plaza De Montrose, Chaguanas, Trinidad and Tobago
672-9184

Don't know if they do Sitar specifically but they teach alot of Indian classical stuff. Wouldn't mind leaning sitar myself , its a really unique instrument.

Try the guitar first .
Learn about notes and chords etc.
Start with a simple nylon stringed guitar .

Then move to the Sitar .

Depends on the type of music OP is interested in playing. If it's indian classical music, knowing his way around the guitar won't be much help.

Wouldn't mind learning the Sitar myself.

Same here .

Play an electric guitar for years now. Have an American Fender ( Rock ).

Give me a Sitar and I think I can play some notes .

Beatles used a lots of Sitar music riffs in their music after touring India.
