Nissan Tiida Question

Postby insidious » August 19th, 2015, 5:48 pm

I have a roro nissan tiida hatchback 18 months now, the car doing about 46,000km. Since i buy the car i have been driving with the ac on, the car starts with the ac in the on position and when i switch off the ac is in the on position. The car comes with one radiator fan so when i start the car the fan comes on immediately but recently out of curiosity since the car has no temperature gauge, i wanted to know just how hot the engine gets before the fan comes on. I started the car the fan come on, i turned the ac of, the fan come of, i popped the bonnet and wait for about 25 minutes but the fan did'nt come on, the engine was hotter than normal, the bottom radiator hose was cooler than the top radiator hose and the coolant level in the coolant resevoir rose about 1/2 inch. So i turned on the ac and the fan come on. I have been driving this car and did'nt have a clue that if i had turned off the ac whilst driving the radiator fan would not have come on but since i've been driving the car it never gave any symptoms of overheating. So anyone ever had the same issue with their tiida also how long does it take before the radiator fan come on while the car idiling and how long does it stay on before it comes of and how long does it stay of before it comes back on, thanks

Nissan fans come in at very high temperature. Could do a diagnostic and monitor live data and answer your question. 7208649

Those fans take awhile to come on. Its best to take a spin around the block and come back then see if it comes on. When you switch on the ac fans usually spring into action one time.
Bottom hose will be cooler as the thermostat aint open yet to let hot water out the block back into the rad for cooling. Can touch the hose after your spin around the block.
Didnt know they come with one fan though 0.o

The car overheating? When you are driving most likely the fan won't come on cause the engine running cooler with all that air passing through. The car was hotter than usual? Not trying to be a dick. Tiidas don't have guages just lights so unless you put a thermometer on it I doubt you could feel that.

Once the car isn't overheating, loosing water/coolant or knocking like yourself. Just be vigilant with your car you work hard to buy.

Yes Tiidas overheat but it's usually due to maintenance. Test the thermostat before spending cash on a new one. There's a reason why you only have 1 fan maybe the block dissipates heat very well and there's good amount of room in the bay.
I sure in your neighborhood it has endless Tiidas just like yours talk to them and compare.

Ad trini iceman said. Tiidas have lights not gauges. There is a gauge technically that is monitored by a module. However in the event of overheating there is a red Indicator light that will illuminate in your instrument cluster. A blue one will illuminate when the engine is "cold" or below operating temperature. And there will be no indication once temperature levels are where they should be. So to the op once that red light isnt on, you've got nothing to worry about wrt overheating.
