Advice on Steering Warning Light

Postby neexis » May 13th, 2015, 1:35 pm

Hey guys

Had to jump start the Passat due to a failing battery. Car was started successfully, but the steering warning light has been orange ever since. The wheel is easy enough to turn, but I don't feel the Active Return at all. I usually have to turn it back into place.

Replaced the battery this morning and still no difference.
So far, I tried:
Driving the car for some distance... no change
Turning steering fully to left, then fully to the right and driving for some distance... still no change.

Any advice/tips?

Jump start?
Did you use jumper cable or take out your battery and used another battery to start the car?

had that issue with the BMW some months back after it was aligned... we did a scan on the steering input and had to reset it using the scanner...pretty accurate stuff ..margin of error down to 0.025 of a degree.
