problem with d22 frontier (zd30t)

Postby black start » April 22nd, 2013, 12:24 am

Good day. A friend of mine is having a problem with their frontier. Its the d22 fully loaded 4x4 model with the zd30t motor. While driving, the van has normal power through all the gears except on third. On third seems to feel as though there is a "dead spot" on the accelerator pedal. Anybody every experienced this before and may have an idea of what it is?

Are there any proficient diesel or frontier mechanics located in central?

I have heard of James, and that he is really good. Anyone has a contact for him?

Any info/assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Yes vehicle is regularly serviced and mileage is about 180-200K

But if it was the injection pump, wouldn't it be problematic throughout all the gears?just asking, me'em know....

i had a whole back on forth gear and it was the nuetralizing switch on the gear box. It's located outside the gear box just below the gear stick. So may be it happens on third gear too.

well I had a problem similar to that @ 120kmh and it was the pump...

and yes, you can change the neutralizing switch on the gearbox as well... I also changed that when I had mine. that's a common problem in the 3.0 Frontiers.

Hmmm, the filters I not sure about, but please explain how the filters may cause this problem.

About the neutralising switch, is it the same on the 4x2 yd22ddti model? And where did you guy get your replacements?

Also, if it's the pump, where did you have it serviced? I know of original diesel specialists in Tableland doing good work but are they able with the zd30t motor?I have also heard of sookhai's but heard mixed reviews about them.

Thanks so far for the help,

you would get the switch @ Massy...

as for the pump, I did mine @ Sookhai's, but that was about 6 years ago.

My mechanic told me about these guys in Tableland, you have contact numbers? Post them nah!

Ah hear Sookhai's real pricey and they most likely not doing the quality job for their high price, so a mechanic told me.

if it was a fuel related problem i think it will be present throughout the rpm range on any gear.

Most likely is the switch.
To test it put on the heat switch the revs should go up to around 1200 rpm.
while at stand still mash the clutch and run the gear lever through each gear.
the rmp will drop at each gear. if it does not drop at each gear the switch is bad.
