80-year-old charged with 62 sex crimes

AN 80-year-old Moruga father appeared in court yesterday charged with 62 sex crimes.
Cephas Calendar, of Maingot Trace, Basse Terre, Moruga, appeared before Justice of the Peace Valerie John at the Princes Town Magistrates' Court.
Calendar was remanded in prison custody to reappear in court today.
He is charged with raping a girl, who is now 13 years old, since she was eight.
It is alleged that the incidents occurred between April 2006 and November 2011.
The girl reported the matter to the Moruga Police Station on Friday and Calendar was taken into police custody.
He was charged with 61 sex assault charges and one count of grievous sexual assault.
Police constable Ricky Nicholas of the Moruga Police laid the charges.

I don't foresee him lasting long in the prison system though, different self imposed law in there wrt sex crimes, he wold be at the bottom of the pecking order and @ 80 he eh go make.

So what you think is a reasonable way to penalize a person like that.. realistically?

No sort of remorse because you are a elderly man. The full brunt of the law taking into consideration his age. Community service is the best form of punishment here IMO.

Paedophiles prey on their victims and use fear and intimidation to keep their sexual advances under wraps. Not every child will show signs, so you can't assume the parents were ignoring the child's cries for help, when it is uncertain if the child reached out in the first place.
It's even possible that the attacks started at an age where the deviant behaviour sometimes associated with being a victim of sexual abuse may have been mistaken for simple agression or a learning disability. Many things could've happened here.
The bottom line is, our children need to be protected from these devilish people.
