repairing nikon camera

got a friend who need their Nikon Coolpix s550 repaired. the pictures come out over exposed and has lines in them so i kno the sensor need to get replaced. anybody know anywhere in trinidad that would repair the camera? they want to avoid sending it back to nikon and warranty is up and thing

yeh i tell them it wuda been cheaper to get a new camera than have it repaired. even so, it have better cameras that go for cheap too

when you say 'handhelds' you mean point-and-shoot cameras?

my moms has a coolpix P90, its fine but i think the focusing mechanism is dying...the autofocus is sketchy within maybe 6-8" from the subject, and in the earlies it focused brilliant.

verify that it is not a documented manufacturer fault, in which case you could get it repaired for the cost of shipping (which may or may not be cheaper than local repair or replacing entirely with cheap new model)
