personally i dont see anything wrong with giving a responsible 14 yr old a 22 cal rifle. really good fun for target practice and small game hunting.

But to give it to a child who has neither responsible adults around or prior familiarity with guns and the rules of them well then thats it.

its pretty much the same thing when back in the day u were given a butterfly knife or a hunting knife when u joined scouts in school.

It's ridiculous the "gifts" that some parents think to give their children. The father was highly irresponsible.
