NEED ANSWERS

Postby Buzzard » October 16th, 2004, 2:04 am

I have ah Primera with ah SR20 VVL and tiptronic (hyper CVT M6). Thinkin about switchin the tranny to ah box and puttin ah stock SR20 turbo, manifold and intercooler. What I want to know is would I have to change the ECU or would de stock one work??

You would definetly want to retain the ECU since it governs the variable valve timing and swtiching to anything else would render the system useless. I would recommend you use a piggyback fuel computer such as the Apex SAFC with the stock or maybe 370cc injectors from the DET instead for saftey and run low boost on the engine since compression is already high @ 10.3:1 (16V VE). What low boost in specific....do research on the net man....I never heard of any internally stock, turbocharged VE's in Trinidad, so be careful about what people say. I know that the DE can handle 10-12 psi on stock internals with good fuel managment....not sure about the VE....you might want to think about putting a copper head gasket to help drop compression as well as DE pistons. Good Luck :!:
