4g63 NA, idling problem

Postby Newbie » December 24th, 2010, 12:19 pm

this is an old 4g63 like the one the evo 1,2,3 has. mine is nonj turbo.
so this is the problem, recently i noticed the car is not idling at 900 rpm, it idles lower like 800-780 around there. it sounds like it wants to cut off but it dosen't, but it wil rev straight up the rpm with no problems at all, on the road it works fine, except when i'm idling. If i mash the gas heavy from idle, it will stutter to catch up to like about 1300 rpm then it revs all the way fine. If i mash the gas slowly up to 1300 it won't stutter.
Also for the past 2 weeks i have to start the car about 3 times before it starts. but once it starts, i can switch off and start back whole day with one start. this only happens in the morning, or when the car has not been running for about 12 hours or so, when the engine is cold. But this never happened before. it always started in one.
So anyone with any ideas, i'm going to do some checking myself., i'll let you know what i find out.

Get the car scanned... it could be anything from your idle controle sensor, to a leak in your intake manifold gasket, to your Throttle position sensor etc.

service your throttle body and clean out your injectors as well....if problem still persists your idle screw may need adjusting....and if after adjusting the idle screw the problem recurs then it's ur idle control sensor that needs changing...had the same problem with my 4G18.
