UWI SBCS and SAMS

Postby DJ Nexxus » April 27th, 2010, 6:47 pm

Yeah guys I need a little input from you all and please people, not from what you hear, from what you KNOW!!!

background first

I have physics 2
chem 2
electronics 2
english 2
maths bacic 2
all cxc general now my problem is I don't want to waste two years to do A levels to enter UWI when I can start a degree somewhere else via mature entry, but I need help with a few questions:

1 - I am not interested in UTT so forget that
2 - if I do a degree by some other school say SAMS I would like that it would allow me entry into UWI if I wanted to do some other type of degree
3 - pros and cons of having a UWI degree and a "lets say" Anglia Ruskin degree

All new responses and question will be posted in BOLD below thanks in advance guys.

i'm a uwi student and i can say you will catch real hell in uwi if u didn't do cape or diploma....so i wouldn't say it's a waste of time...if you do uwi form 6 you'll be guaranteed entry just as long as you pass. however cape is simply for persons who are not sure about their area of interest.

my advise would be to pursue a diploma in an area of certain interest because it is worth more than cape subjects and you can get a decent job with it... you can also be admitted into uwi with a diploma.

btw i'm not sure you will be admitted with basic math [remedial math course iz an option]

If you didn't do AS Math at CXC, N1's Pre-Calculus is gonna be pretty tough on you. The Chemistry is managable, and so is the Physics. However, the course is intense and very time consuming. Duration, one year and say goodbye to the outside world for that one year if you really want your A+'s

Go to uwi Facebook page and ask your questions there...they would put you onto someone who can help answer your ques.
is some engineering degree you want to do at uwi? you wud need great cape results or some sorta diploma, maybe a diploma from tech? i know people who got into Civil Engin with Diploma from Tech but not sure those are done anymore :?

Sometimes the lecture and/or lab times get in the way of your personal life man, example the saturday lab, the can really be troublesome if you have football training on a saturday morn. And well they going through some bad teachers at the moment...two new math teachers (one of which really is a physics teacher) and they had to take a chem demonstrator to teach the 2nd chem group.
