Tint? parklight? seatbelt? shoulder?

Postby 4kin4kar » September 8th, 2009, 8:42 am

ppl i know these thinks are also critical but it should not be before robing and kidnapping. i think they should raise these penalties first. i feel like crime is on a back burner but really and truly it should be on the fire.....my thoughts.

^^ well u see if they raise those penalities they dont have much $$ to gain as the ppl who do those crimes wont hav $$ to pay it anyway and ends up in jail therefore not profitable

by targeting those that they did...that is the more or less working class
now at the same time im quite happy they did eh...but other measures should have been put in place before..especially for tint!

One route to attacking the scourge of crime is to start to establish a sense of discipline. At least this is the direction I hope government is taking and not finding a way to pay off for their expenses

for real buzz.
my take on this...a big, enormous bag of shyt from de gov't.
they talking about increased fines for tint, shoulder driving, park light, seatbelts, but they never passa law for de breathalyser test.
they not going to revise the motor vehicle act and they not going to pass any new laws for tint, etc. so dem jus intimidating ppl.
so what de fack is dem rel purpose?? waste of time.

It was supposed to be an increase across the board. She just gave some examples in the presentation. Interest groups like "Arrive Alive" should lobby to get some of those fines raised. $ 5000.00 for using the shoulder illegally would put people in line.

And it's not that crime is on the back burner eh. It's that they don't know what to do again. After spending all that money we're actually worse off than before.

As someone said, they're just trying to steer people's attention away from the more pressing issues.

I think that's a good start, too many ppl break traffic laws.
And the amount of road accidents/death recorded, this should be a positive start.

We just need a few ppl to make this an example, that's where the police comes in...they need to catch some of these drivers.

1. i was flagged to stop for speeding, but i never did stop. de police was about 50m in front of his car, so i jus continued driving. i was doing about 120km/h.

2. de police check ur speed by calculating distance/time. one stands at point A and another at point B. they calculate how fast u pass both points. a padner stopped between both points, jumped out, checked his trunk and tyres, pretending that something was wrong, then jumped back in and drove off. with that, de police could not do their calculation to determine how fast we were going.

Agreed there is a difference but the fact remains that we are a lawless society and its shows in the way we drive on the nations roadways.

what needs to happen is that police must have be to detect apprehend and prosecute.....its the only way.

understood

and i'm not saying that strict laws and fines for traffic use are not needed

by all means let the SENSIBLE fines prevail BUT having a proper and law abiding driving populace would not put a dent in crime

i'm all for enforcing these laws and fines but something has to be done about crime and health care in this country and simply enforcing things like shoulder driving over drinking and driving and illegal drag racing is simply nonsense IMO

i hear you and agree with u too but the other little things help. Criminals do all of the above so to law abiding citizens but need to get society back to a point where we must obey the law of the land.

i have had conversations with EX-PATS at a company where i use to work and they are amaze of how laxed our laws are especially traffic laws. for example in England from the moment your leave a bar intoxicated and you as a driver only open your car door you will be charged for a DUI. Here in Trinidad i can consume 10 carib and walk out trotters and jump in my car and drive intoxicated break traffic lights or cause an accident go home and get up the next day without a care in the world.

we need to start promoting LAW and everything else would follow.

I've been reading your replies and you are making really good and valid points. What is your take as it regards to tints; to allow a lower percentage tint to the passenger (rear windows) sections of the vehicle?

As you would know, N.America, Japan etc allows for this application.

i have no problem with tints but we tend to get excessive and abuse the law because of lack of proper legislation.

the problem is there isn't a clear definition as to what is the legal percentage coupled with the fact that the police aren't equipped with the tools to test it either. All things being equal i dont have a problem with it but i have seen many RORO cars on the port with just the rear windows tinted and you still have to rip it off when u go to license the vehicle.
