Hilux Brake Upgrade

Postby sundaemon » December 16th, 2008, 8:40 pm

Anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the braking system on a Hilux Vigo 2008, and where to buy the upgrade kit?

doesn't the vigo already come with the sumitomo 4pot calipers? these are very similar to the ones in the skylines and silvia's. can probably try one from the nissan with a spacer to raise the caliper but you gonna have to redrill the rotors to get 6 hole

Know its a really old post but was thinking about the same thing.
Saw someone had a Vigo with 4 wheel disc brakes like on the Fortuner.
Have on some 22's so braking is an issue for me.
Where can I get this upgrade done...???

Don't think the fortuner comes with the 4 wheel disc brakes but you can google for the rear wheel disc brake upgrade, there are a couple being offered online.....

The issue of brake upgrade for the Vigo was and is extremely important for vehicles produced up to about late 2007- early 2008 since the installed system just did not provide the appropriate efficiencies to match the load and power conditions. In fact many owners todate do experience a tendency "to drive through the brakes" and if at standstill at lights need to continuously apply a discomforting amount of pressure to safely hold vehicle.
Toyota eventually upgraded the front braking system in the newer models and the set-up is equivalent to the Prado system (larger caliphers, pads&rotors).
I have done quite a few of these upgrades (including my own),with the cost of the package running about $13000.Actually,in my particular case I had an approved power chip upgrade and the issues became more urgent.
