More CK Lancer rear disc brake woes.....

Postby Rudman » September 8th, 2006, 7:10 pm

Well boy, as if it wasn't bad enough getting some trouble with a rear wheel bearing (which was a rare find) a couple weeks ago, I now have to deal with a sticking caliper on the same wheel... :x

On long trips I would notice the wheel emitting a lot of heat. Turns out the piston wasn't moving freely and brake binding occured.

Carried it to the mechanic today. The piston had a lot of rust and also the seal had to change. Well boy, that was the fun part. As U guessed it, no parts store carry the seal kit for those rear discs. I was fortunate enough to find a seal from another kit that worked (dust caps could not work from that kit however, had to re-use the old ones). So now, I am working on a borrowed seal.

Parts for these rear disc assemblies are fustratingly hard to find as the firm never brought them in.

Anyone here can source and bring in these Mitsubishi OEM parts for the rear assemblies? I am interested in getting the correct seal kit so I can have peace of mind in rebuilding them. For that matter, rear wheel bearings, ABS type, would prove useful as well. Does anyone have them locally as well?

I want to know if it works out for you, and anyone could say if the galant rear disk cables would work in a ck2 lancer?

^^Thanks for that tip W2J. May very well have to resort to this if I can't get OEM kits.
