usually iirc where she sits no co-workers desk is within 15 feet most is across the room

and by human nature it would take a couple seconds to register what they see due to utter shock an trauma..so by the time the first person could register that and get across to the man bout 15 20 stab couldve taken place in a mere matter of seconds..it easy to condemn when you weren't there and dont take into consideration natural human behavior

With all the comments about the Change in Ownership, all of the current news reports in the media, only speak of Mr. Ahamad of SSS making any comments on this unfortunate situation....

Mr. Ahamad will not comment on an ongoing investigation.

The change in ownership is this.
BMW Restructuring their markets world wide.
What they want is one dealer to be responsible for the entire caribbean
Companies were invited to bid for that contract and SSS decided that they did not want to be involved in that process.
ANSA McAl won the bid, beating companies not only from Trinidad, but also from the other islands, such as BS&T motors in Barbados.

Knowing the brand from the inside like I do, I could understand why SSS choose not to bid. Imagine being responsible for all the islands. Buildings, Staff, Workshops which must all be up to BMW AG standards, that is an unbelievable undertaking and a hell of an expense. Obviously each country will have their own dealerships and sub importers but in the end the responsibility falls to ANSA McAl to enforce and maintain the brand image.

then you know it means that they could loose the brand if someone provide a business plan which shows more growth than them over a period of time

Ansa McAL takes over BMW franchise

Thursday, January 6 2011

After months of industry talk about a possible take over of BMW and Mini importer Bavarian Motors by the Ansa McAl group, the conglomerate has confirmed it is now the distributor of the German-based luxury vehicles.

Ansa McAl’s automotive division already has under its belt, Diamond Motors which distributes Mitsubishi vehicles; Classic Motors which handles Honda motor cars and McEnearney Motors which is responsible for Ford vehicles. In an “official media release” issued by the Group, which appeared as an ad in Newsday last week, explained the manufacturers of BMW and Mini have restructured the distribution of the brand in Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.

Consequently, the statement said, the “Southern Caribbean Structure” was developed — to include Trinidad and Tobago and the other islands in the South Caribbean.

“Barvarian Motors Limited was offered the opportunity to submit a business proposal but after careful consideration declined on the basis that it did not fit with our Group’s business model,” the statement said.

An attempt was made to contact Barvarian Motor’s managing director at the time Gordon Borde. A message was left with his secretary, however he did not respond.

Now taking the helm is Neil Mohammed as general manager.

According to web site searches Bavarian Motors was an affiliate of Southern Sales owned by the Ahamad clan.

The statement also said the BMW/Mini operations will continue at the current locations in Port of Spain and San Fernando.

The Ansa McAL group also gave the reassurance that there will be no disruption in business activities and all sales and after sales operations will continue as normal.

On the crime that took place ...

Sons watch mom die
Spurned lover attacks woman at car dealership
By Richard Charan

Story Updated: Oct 27, 2010 at 12:47 AM ECT

Sabrina Lalla-Mitchell's tormentor turned up at her workplace and stabbed her to death yesterday afternoon —a killing witnessed by her two children.

She was stabbed at least seven times by a man who then stabbed himself in the abdomen and cut his wrists.

The children begged the man not to stab their mother. They were later led away, uniforms splattered with her blood.

Lalla-Mitchell, 31, was stabbed in the showroom of Bavarian Motors on Todd Street, San Fernando, where she worked.

The company sells and services BMW luxury vehicles.

Lalla-Mitchell was divorced earlier this year. She moved to Princes Town about a year ago with sons Saidan, ten, and Seph, 11.

Lalla-Mitchell, originally of Fonrose Street, San Fernando, is the daughter of Rev Dennis Lalla, a close friend and former spiritual adviser of former prime minister Patrick Manning.

Police were told Lalla-Mitchell had earlier picked up her children at the Grant Memorial Primary School in San Fernando and took them to her workplace where they often waited for her until the end of the workday.

The suspect walked into the businessplace just before 4 p.m. Workers told police they saw the man speak with Lalla-Mitchell as she sat behind her desk. However, witnesses said there did not appear to be "trouble brewing"until the man pulled out a knife and began the attack.

The woman died before paramedics could get her to the San Fernando General Hospital.

The man had beaten Lalla-Mitchell in the past and made threatening phone calls recently, the Express was told.

The suspected killer, a fisherman who spent time in prison on a drug charge, was refusing medical treatment last night at the San Fernando General Hospital, telling his police guards, "Is not true she dead."

Lalla-Mitchell's killing took the murder toll for the year to 400, according to the Express' count.

Man jointly charged with dead ex-wife
Murder accused in court for cocaine...
By Nikita Braxton-Benjamin nikita.braxton@trinidadexpress.com

Story Created: Sep 9, 2011 at 11:53 PM ECT

Story Updated: Sep 9, 2011 at 11:53 PM ECT

MURDER accused Willard Mitchell appeared in court yesterday, jointly charged for cocaine trafficking with the ex-wife he allegedly killed—Sabrina Lalla-Mitchell.

Mitchell is accused of stabbing to death the woman at a BMW showroom in San Fernando last year, but the cocaine charge dates back to 2006.

Mitchell's aunt is also charged with the offence.

In the San Fernando Magistrates' Court yesterday, Mitchell said he was unable to start the drug matter as he had been incarcerated for several months.

"I'm in custody for 11 months on another matter. I don't know what going on with my attorney (in this case)," he told Magistrate Alicia Chankar.

Mitchell and his aunt, Sherida Gopaul, both faced the court.

Gopaul's lawyer, Michael Rooplal, said the third person charged for the offence was now deceased, and he was ready to start in the matter.

Mitchell said he was not, and Chankar adjourned the case to November 11.

On January 25, 2006, Mitchell, his former wife, and Gopaul were charged with having cocaine for trafficking.

The drug was allegedly found at Gopaul's house at Cipero Road, San Fernando.

Lalla-Mitchell died on October 26 last year. She was stabbed to death at her workplace at Bavarian Motors on Todd Street, San Fernando.

Mitchell is charged with her murder.

For this offence he was taken before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar in the First Court.

She noted that paper committal, which was supposed to be a faster method than a preliminary enquiry, seemed not to be working in this matter.

Attorney Jason Jackson, Mitchell's lawyer in the murder case, asked for documents to be handed over by the prosecution.

He said the last time disclosure was made was back in June after he called for his client to be discharged. On that day, Jackson said a State attorney was yet to be appointed to the case after eight months, and the charging officer had been missing court dates.

"The matter keeps dragging," Jackson said yesterday.

State attorney Shabana Shah said the case is proceeding by way of paper committal and as soon other statements were filed, they will be handed over to the defence.

Ayers-Caesar adjourned the case to October 5.

BMW and MINI move to Laughlin and De Gannes
GERMAN-BASED car company Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) and MINI Cooper has found a new home in TT after signing an agreement earlier this week with LAFAST Motors, a division of Laughlin and De Gannes.

In a release sent to the media on Wednesday, LAFAST and ATL Automotive Group, the regional master dealer of BMW and MINI, announced LAFAST Motors will be taking direct control of the sales and after sales services of the two popular car brands.

The car companies will be moving to LAFAST from former dealer, Ansa McAl, in December.

“This an exciting moment for BMW and MINI in Trinidad and Tobago and we’re delighted to finally confirm this appointment. In LAFAST Motors, we have found a partner who, like us, is committed to driving these two market-leading brands to the next level in terms of sales, service and exceptional customer service, something that has underpinned the company for the last seven decades,” said Adam Stewart chief executive officer and deputy chairman of ATL Automotive.

The company said the change will see the building of two “state-of-the-art” sales and service facilities in Port of Spain and San Fernando, and ATL and Ansa McAl will be working together closely to ensure a smooth transition.

“Our commitment is to build a team considered to be the ‘best in class’and our mission will be to provide our customers with premium affordability for one of the most prestigious brands in the market,” said directors of LAFAST Motors, Greig Laughlin, Mark Laughlin and Gregory Farah.

The company says existing BMW and MINI customers will have their service-inclusive packages and new car warranties continued to be fully honoured by BMW and MINI.
