^^^ just mischievous ppl....I now see on a co-worker's fb something about ODPM issuing a statement that there is no tidal wave/tropical storm

Imagine a bulletin issued at 8:30am is NOW circulating. But not the bulletin itself inno, just the information, not the time-stamp.

Trinidadians just dropped a notch on the evolution rankings.

I printed the bulletin and showed them it with the time stamp, the person who got the broadcast insisted it's fact a storm is coming and started acting like a cnut...caused an entire floor to evacuate...by that time word spread and entire building was empty within minutes.

I was like whatever yes, glad to be home. Got some errands done too.

it rains all the time, sometimes heavily and for long periods due to ITCZ activity.
ODPM nor MET Office would NOT have known there would be mudslides from poor water sheds and drainage planning up in the hills. Trees help rainwater and mud stay up in the hills instead of all draining down every times it rains heavily, cut down trees to plant garden or build houses and roads and this natural system no longer works. Can't blame ODPM for that.

isnt ODPM's only function to manage/coordinate the response teams after a disaster?

sheit happen, they organise help

they don't advise on sheit going to happen or have to stop sheit from happening

It would stand to reason, that IF, IF there was an approaching storm, tidal wave or hurricane, the info would be plastered all over the media, the Met Office fb page, ODPM's twitter feed - official sources. Not your "reliable" bbm buddy.

Remember Tomas? Ivan? It was all over the news and local stations, right? The PM addressed the nation, right? Right!

BTW, I kinda only mentioned it in passing, but we've FINALLY managed to convince Admin that Met needs a Facebook page and Twitter account because it needs to be more visible.

Look for us on FB and "like" the page or whatever it is u do on that thing. Twitter stuff to come soon.
We'll try to post cool sheit in between weather info or whatever.

Got enough of them with fb accounts to handle that.
