We all need to brace for the next 'bombshell'...what implications if any on voter's opinions?

http://www.guardian.co.tt/news/2015-08- ... y%E2%80%99

Independent Liberal Party (ILP) leader Jack Warner is putting together another political bombshell—one that further intrudes into the private life of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. On Friday night, speaking at an ILP forum in Arima, Warner pledged to “do anything” to get Persad-Bissessar out of office. He mentioned then that he had a big “mark to buss” on her.

The Sunday Guardian has learned that the “mark” will come from the recording of a conversation he had with National Infrastructure Development Company Ltd (Nidco) communications manager, Ingrid Ishmael, in which Ishmael divulges confidential information on Persad-Bissessar’s private life, including past liaisons during her stint as leader of the opposition and while in office.

The Sunday Guardian obtained copies of taped conversations between Warner and Ishmael, which spoke about women said to be connected to the Prime Minister.

The women, according to the audio, allegedly shared a history with Persad-Bissessar and are now working in various ministries.

One of them, who is said to be favoured by Persad-Bissessar, was appointed to a consulate.

According to the audio, Ishmael, who claimed to have worked with Persad-Bissessar for 23 years, is willing to testify in court and swear on the Bible that what she is saying is the truth.

The Sunday Guardian yesterday contacted Ishmael to verify that it was her voice on the recording.

“Yes, I know what you are talking about,” she said.

“I don’t know how you plan to deal with this but what I said in that conversation with Mr Warner is the truth,” Ishmael added.

Ishmael said she worked closely with Persad-Bissessar when she was the then opposition leader and was privy to several aspects of Persad-Bissessar’s private life.

Ishmael said she worked with Persad-Bissessar as communications specialist at the Ministries of Education, Legal Affairs and Office of the Attorney General, as well as media relations officer at the Office of the Opposition Leader.

Ishmael said she has only now decided to break her silence because of her beliefs.

“I don’t believe a woman who prides herself on being the ‘mother of the nation’ but carries on like this in her private life should be given another chance in office. I cannot stand the hypocrisy of it at all,” she said. Ishmael confirmed that she turned to Warner to vent.

“I was there when they spoke about Mr Warner even when he was in the party and they referred to Mr Warner in the most degrading terms,” she said.

“That hypocrisy was too much,” she said.

Former Minister of the People Dr Glenn Ramadharsingh said yesterday that he felt vindicated that the woman who accused him of sex acts has asked the police to drop their investigation of her complaint.

In a letter dated January 22, 2015, Patricia Singh wrote Acting Police Commissioner Stephen Williams calling on him to stop the probe, apologising for any wasted police time, saying she had a change of heart after seeking advice from her family and her church.

She said she was influenced by others when she made the report to police in April 2014. Singh had accused Ramadharsingh of forcing her to perform sex acts on two occasions at the ministry’s offices in Port-of-Spain. “From the very onset, given the gravity of the matter which caused a lot of personal pain, I had referred the mater to my legal counsel for their attention,” Ramadharsingh told Newsday. “I also cooperated fully with all the authorities, because I truly believed that I will be vindicated in the matter.”

Troop call out for elections

ANDRE BAG00 Friday, August 14 2015

MINISTER of National Security Brigadier Carl Alfonso yesterday called on all citizens to cooperate with law enforcement authorities in the coming weeks, saying additional troops will be called out and there will be police blockade action designed to ensure the September 7 general election is conducted in a safe environment.

“I just want to appeal to the national community to be tolerant and to support and cooperate with the law enforcement agencies from here on end,” the National Security Minister said at a Cabinet media briefing held at the Office of the Prime Minister, St Clair. “From here on end there are going to be disruptions from time to time in terms of traffic, in terms of searches, in terms of road-blocks - not Total Policing, but regular and frequent road-checks, roadblocks.” Alfonso continued, “It is not meant to annoy you. It is meant to make you feel safe and comfortable and secure. So I ask that you cooperate with the law enforcement agencies. They are only doing what they are mandated to do. They are only doing their jobs and we ask that you cooperate with them if you will.” The Minister of National Security also said he was concerned about a report of a threat against the life of Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley. He said he was not formally apprised of the report but it had come to his attention informally and the matter was being investigated.

“The investigations are being conducted as I speak,” Alfonso said of this matter. “Yes, I was aware of it. I think I got a bit of flak for appearing not to know. I remember saying that I was not officially informed. But I was informed. I was not officially informed. So I knew like everybody else. But I knew the police were also investigating, but I did not want to say much more on that because the police do what they have to do in their own time. They are investigating as I speak.” On whether he was concerned, Alfonso said, “The obvious answer to that is yes, I am concerned. I must be concerned about Dr Rowley’s and anybody else’s safety.” On the status of the probe into the July Jailbreak, Alfonso said, “I know a report had been handed over so that will become public knowledge very soon.” The Minister said about 100 members of the Defence Force will be called out, and an unspecified number will be called out at the discretion of the Police Commissioner.

“I think at election time we always bring out the troops for obvious reasons,” Alfonso said.

“I hope it does make you feel more comfortable and more secure.” He said armoured personnel carriers are due to arrive this month. A security team went to Israel to inspect them.

“There was a question,” Alfonso said.

“They are only left-hand vehicles and we wanted right-hand drive vehicles.

We did not want a conversion from left to right. But they are on their way and I would imagine that they would be here in the month of August.” Alfonso said the crime rate has improved slightly, but one murder is one murder too many. “The detection rate still seems to be something that we need to address in the short term,” the minister said.

“I am confident that the Police Service is up to the task and they are working as hard as they can to try to bring the crime level down as low as possible.”

Well Jamaica Observer is the only site I can find hosting the story, but it is CMC story meaning it was originated here and syndicated through out the Caribbean.

Idk if he has been charged, the TTPS under the PPG never had it easier to arrest and charge PP ppl for accusations but it seems their hands are tied. From hit men going to kill a minister wife hornerman, LifeSport, weed at the PM's house, && perverting justice and Kamla & Jack helping Ish and Steve.

When these big boys get away, the gunmen will get away too.

That's where I get confused with people like ZR. I have no problem with you being a supporter of the PP, but Lifesport can't be justified. It's ok to say your party did wrong. PNM did wrong and paid the price ... Don't you want your party to do better ?

Where did the money go? How did an individual with so many criminal links and accused of high profile murders become the person of choice to reform youths? Don't you care that millions of tax payer dollars was funneled to criminals ? Don't you care that the person accused of murdering Senior Counsel was being funded by your government ? This issue alone is enough to have concerns about this Govt.

UML I see u still posting pics of crowds like if its a true reflection of support for a particular party!
and you are doing this knowing fully well that most of these folks are paid $100 and up to attend.
what have me curious though is why do you still post crowd pictures when its public knowledge that
that the crowd is rented? post Tobago THA elections crowd pictures and weigh it with results and tell me if what you doing make sense and who you intend to fool..because its known that the UNC have corrupted this so we can no longer judge by how big a crowd is

A lot of people are blinded of the amount of work this Kamala Government is doing and just looking on and saying wayyyyyy this gov. doing real wok.
Look deeper people the reason they just pelting out moneys on projects is because every single project the top men gets a big big pay back, so the more projects the more cuts. The Treasury is empty.
Its so bad that the top men, ministers and chairmen asking contractors for they cut up front before the project even started.
Fattening up project cost and thieving Tax payers money to fill they own pockets.
If this PPP wins again they would have to send up all taxes in this country to pay back for those projects and who will have to pay for it me and you.
Imagine these people so bold they inviting you by their home to make sure nobody record them and making deals with only certain contractors for they 'cut' of the project,
CERTAIN contractors getting so much contracts that their pockets fatt from exaggerated contracts and they come boasting and showing off with their fancy cars and houses bought out of Tax payers moneys

I assume by liaisons you mean sex life and it's f*cking sickening to see our public eat this up and condemn her. Since when is someones private sex lives any of your business? I'm not accusing you Redman, just commenting on the general public Facebook reactions. People calling Rowley a pervert because he's a known womanizer. Or Kamla, screwing around. For all we know, they have open marriages and what they do is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. What's debatable here is if Rowley is denying paternity of some alleged outside children. While this should still be a private matter, it can lead to criminal or civil charges.

the story is more than just about her liaisons, it is about how these personal relationships were used as leverage to gain positions for which people were not qualified to hold, or who who were hired without transparency and due process.

to be honest whatever is revealed between now and Sept 7th may not sway anybody as most people's minds have already been made up. I don't think the polls can accurately predict the outcome because the 'undecided' are not undecided at all, they just prefer to keep their choice private. The major issue in this campaign is corruption, just as it was in 2010; and we know what happened to Manning in 2010.

The PP has already lost the election, in 2010 many people were swayed into voting for them based on their promise of cleaning up corruption and also because they had the COP in the partnership. In the ensuing 5 years this government has taken corruption and victimization to new heights while Prakash has single-handedly dismantled the COP, undoing all the work that Dookeran would have done previously, they have failed terribly. The 2010 swing voters will vote PNM or abstain, both of which will hurt the PP.

I predict a lower turnout than in 2010, the PNM numbers will remain the same but the jaded floating vote may abstain.
