3stagevtec wrote:^ remember that was suppose to be a mini run.. no one expected that level of 'action!' lol

btw, for the more 'advanced' trails, I will not recommend any trail that a stock vehicle on ATs can't manage. The Morne Diablo trail can be insanely easy at certain times of the year. Same can be said for the LC trail.. I have only been to Brasso Seco only once, so I not sure how there changes throughout the year. I will prefer to wait for the official DB run to go there though as that is a pretty long drive..

Las Cuevas was bad a couple weeks ago... Even with MTs we had to winch ourselves out of one particular piece when the truck slide sideways and the diff got hung up on the centre bank.

Thank you winch...

planning on changing them anytime soon? say within the next few months?

since the trail is still difficult, I doubt we'll plan any run there anytime soon..

nah not in the immediate future - need to do some saving up.
When I change the tyres I'll go for the good stuff like Toyo's, Kumhos or even the BFG's....

Also thinking of simply importing a rim/tyre package.

BUt yeah I'd like to tackle the trail someday.... maybe in the dry season and if the trail gets levelled out properly.

^ yeah I was watching and reviewing the KL71's last night... Other than a little road noise, they seem to do well both on and off-road.

Was also looking at some American $racing rims, but it's difficult to find a 6x114.3 spacing for the Navara (in anything besides chrome rims, that is).

American Racing has some nice rims!

Did you try looking for Pathfinder rims on their website? It has the same bolt spacing as the Navara..

http://www.americanracing.com/appguide/index.asp

try the 2009 model..

^ that's exactly what I'm hearing from different reviews from various sites.

The KL71's seem quieter than most M/T's and they have surprisingly good on-road manners. Most folks who reviewed them said it's mostly a dull hum they hear, which tends to get louder as the tires wear down.

They also do very well in rain/wet tarmac, channeling water away easily while grip is good - above average.

Plus, the average lifetime mileage I'm seeing is anywhere between 45,000 - 65,000 miles for these tires.... Which is around the same for most highway tyres anyway.

I'm seriously considering these tyres as well, IIRC they're retailing for around $1300 each but I dunno where to get them.

Where did u buy yours?

light hammer i got mine in mileage mack 1050 a tyre...but the thing is its a popular tyre so they sell out quite fast...yeh they are good for what i do im on the road with it alot but i can do the occasional offroad.... i have no regrets about them...now if u want a tyrw for serious offroad go and buy super swampers...but the kumhos last a while...a guy came in the shop the other day and told me he had his own for 3 years and thats everyday use....the kumhos are like a mud terrain all terrain if you get what im saying

light hammer i got mine in mileage mack 1050 a tyre..

That's not a bad price at all - that's around the same price most of the other All-Terrain Tyres (except for the BFG's, Goodyear and Michelin's)

im on the road with it alot but i can do the occasional offroad.

Same as me - 95% of my driving is on-road/highways, the other 5% is either the occasional DB run or climbing on pavement to get around traffic

the kumhos last a while...a guy came in the shop the other day and told me he had his own for 3 years and thats everyday use....

I'm looking for tyres that will give me a long treadwear life - of all the All-Terrains the Pirelli Scorpions and Kumho's roadventure A/T's seem to have the best treadwear life. But the Pirelli Scorpion ATR's are more biased to on-road than off-road. From what I understand the Kumho KL71's are off-road tyres that were designed for good on-road manners plus aggressive looks.

the kumhos are like a mud terrain all terrain if you get what im saying

I get what you're saying, perfectly 8-)

Only questions now: Do they bring them in size 16's and 17's.. and would I need a lift kit just for them to fit?

they bring them in the size 16 rim but u will have to call mileage mack and find out and it depends on what size tyre you want to run if you wanna run a 31 x 10.5 there will be no need for a lift kit if you want to run bigger you could put a lift kit or u cud jus run a body lift up to you

hey that not bad...
Prob would amount to a similar price if you shipped it in via seafreight.

Those would look boss with the scorpions :).

How about a set of KL71's with a negative offset rim for the Sportero? Out of all the MT's they have decent on-road manners. Haunted said they ride well on the road as well.

But then again the idea of steelies + MT's is a good idea too - only problem would be wheel-arch clearance, hence need for a body-lift or suspension lift kit.

^^ remember that the warranty is split into 3 parts:
- engine & transmission
- body/chassis
- suspension & braking system.

Voiding one doesn't necessarily void the other two, unless it's a drastic change.
So installing a lift kit, whether it's a full suspension upgrade or simply using blocks between the ladderframe and body chassis, you'll still have coverage for the engine and body.

Ah now buy de Pirelli Scorpions, dem was esspensive tyres.
Gee-meh ah chance nah!
