I discovered kia has some really cool apps for every vehicle on the Apple store. There's one for the US corolla as well which really highlights the budget options they have.

Called Ford dealer today... apparently trinis are not good enough to get the Fiesta ST or the Focus ST... those cars are only to be sold in every other market besides TnT

But the first generation Focus ST was sold here, why not this latest model?

typical salesrep response to rory's question:

well because of oil prices and the exchange rate.

At least since the ST won't be coming to our shores anytime soon why not the 1.6 turbo instead?

I'm more interested in the Fiesta ST, the normal reason is they don't want to fix tobo-dong cars... but the new kuga has the same 1.6 ecoboost turbo, so I really don't know what the thinking is.

A Fiesta ST could be around 220K - 240K and DESTROYS every other car in that price range...

destroy may be a bit strong...considering in that category you have bigger vehicles like the jetta and elantra...performance wise yes but practicality seeing its size and what not it may be better priced at around 190 k to maybe compete w/ the suzuki swift...

you guys might be giving some of these sales reps too much credit; quite a lot of them barely know about the vehicles they're selling, y'all asking about models/ variants that aren't here

Unfortunately you're right in most if not all cases. The manufacturer and the head of the dealership are the ones who decide really. Those are the ones you'd have to talk to ALOT to try and get something here.

Nah probably not, if its Ford themselves then they have already decided that our market will not get this model then there's no turning around.

Probably have to bring one in yourself

Dealers have to be trained for the vehicles they bring in. They probably not going to want to do extra training just to service that one vehicle. They also have to stock parts for vehicles they support. Probably doesn't make sense to do it for one vehicle either. There may also be other reasons.

Again, they already sell this chassis and this engine, not combined currently... but they probably don't see the need to sell the ST models... all the time i was asking about these cars the salesman kept telling me about bluetooth connectivity in the new focus... dem cyar understand why anyone would want a performance car in the first place yes.

Also, to price the Fiesta ST @ $190k... That puts it in Swift Sport territory, The Fiesta ST has 197hp while the SSS has about 135hp... doesn't seem fair... also the Fiesta is about $22k USD, so it is priced higher than the SSS is internationally.

Chassis doesnt matter in the grand scheme. The st line will have upgraded suspension so they will have to stock swaybar links and bushings for one car? Doesnt make financial sense

Has no rear sway-bar... front sway bar uses the same links on the regular Fiesta... but like I said, dem eh studying all that...

We as tuners know it will sell like hotbread once ah man take it to D&W or Dex and start to share cutarse (the reason Suzuki has sold so many SS down here) but Ford T&T eh have that to study... dey making de same money on a Focus and a Fiesta ST, so why go out of their comfort zone?

Consider how many fords are sold locally and then think about them bringing highspecced models

Well to cut a long story short
a) bring in one yourself

OR

b) If Ford doesn't want your money and doesn't respect your need for speed give it to a manufacturer who does. VW's entire local line is currently boosted. A Jetta will give you 0-60 in 8 to 8.3 seconds. You can remap for $2800 and get a 0 to 60 of 7 seconds. It won't handle out the box like the fiesta st but what other new car options do you have? There is currently nothing faster in the local new car scene from $240K and under.

Agreed... would be nicer if they brought the Polo GTi... they couldn't be bothered either

Yeah was just thinking they don't bring that Polo GTI for a reason. Maybe the same reason Ford ain't bringing the Fiesta ST? Might cannibalise Jetta sales? Dealer thinks people won't pay that price for a hatchback? Manufacturer may mandate the dealer sells a certain amount of Fiesta ST and dealer doesn't think it can? Who knows.

Probably one (or a few) of those reasons... but Lifestyle Motors would not have that shiny new building on Cipero St if the only stuck the the regular Swift and never brought in the Sport...

Our local dealers are smarter than us, Ford quite literally cannot build enough Fiesta ST's to fill the current global demand, but our local dealers KNOW that Trinis not interested in buying them...
