Power went for a while this morning. Clouds all over were looking bleaky, but no rain at the time. Clouds cleared up then it rained for a little, light. Kinda overcast now, but ok. Power finally came back.

A small rain cloud just passed over POS, but it is lovely looking towards the east. No organised coverage.

HEAVY SHOWERS EXPECTED OVER WESTERN TRINIDAD THIS AFTERNOON
by ODPMTT on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 12:17pm
Public Advisory
Tuesday September 28, 2010 – 12: 30 p.m.

Heavy showers and the isolated thundershower expected over Western Trinidad this afternoon

Through its most recent Information Bulletin, the TT Meteorological Services has advised that there is the strong possibility that during the afternoon, the western districts of Trinidad will experience heavy/intense showers and the isolated thundershower. In addition to the expected rainfall, gusty winds (in excess of 50 km/h), lightning strikes and street/flash flooding can also occur in areas that experience heavy downpour. Landslides in areas so prone and inundation of small river courses are likely.

The ODPM, as the lead coordinator of emergencies and crises, has put the first responder agencies (TT Fire Service, TT Defence Force and the municipal corporations) on alert so that immediate assistance can be rendered if any adverse impact occurs. The ODPM reminds all citizens that if they have been affected by this inclement weather, they must contact their municipal corporation or 800 6376.

We continue to underscore the following:-
After heavy rainfall, stay inside until water levels have subsided
Do not walk / drive through flood waters.

Be cautious when walking /driving along hillsides or landslide prone areas.

Trinidad and Tobago is still actively in the hurricane season; therefore citizens must continue to plan and prepare in order to safeguard life, property, community and country.

Trinidad and Tobago is NOT currently under any Tropical Storm threat, Watch or Warning.
