Good job on getting that D70 for your cousin, they is gonna lurve that camera! If you have an SB600, try taking it off-camera and using the wireless flash to get some interesting and creative pics.
And also - that 18-70mm is one of the
sharpest kit lenses out there for the Nikons. It renders detail beautifully in the 18-60mm range, with only a hint of softness fully stretched out at 70mm. That's the exact same lens I have on my D200 most of the time - it right on top of my desk right now, next to my computer staring me in the face, lol.
That's my workhorse lens, and it's taken a beating over the years. I got mine 2nd hand over Ebay, and I love that lens. The D200 has an aluminium body so it takes its share of abuse too. The amount of times that camera with the lens attached fell onto the ground, fell off the bed, fell out of the car, got slammed in a closing door (stupid cnut in the mall did that), bumped into people, got wet in the rain (the D200 is water-resistant, but the lower-grade cameras are not, so be careful!), got covered in dust, frozen in sub-zero temps in both the UK and NYC.... and got roughed up by an excited 8 year old. You is gonna love that lens boy.......
Here's a few shots I took with it:

Decent lens flare with it. I have my UV protector on all the time, so some of the flare came from the UV glass.

Tower Bridge at night. Handheld (leaning on railing), Nikon D200, 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-S DX lens

London Underground

Doing a demonstration of off-camera flash (Nikon iTTL wireless flash system). Nikon D200, 2x Nikon SB600's, 18-70mm lens

Random shot while out walking around with some friends. Look at the level of detail and sharpness of this lens - it's close to professional-level glass! (as long as you have decent light or using a high-enough ISO to get a fast shutter speed).
