Questions over camouflage pants lead to alleged assault of police officer

A 32-year-old Moruga woman could face several charges after she allegedly verbally and physically assaulted a police officer after being confronted about wearing camouflage pants.

Police say around 12:05 this morning, two police officers were on patrol when they stopped a woman near JJ’s and Robins Bar wearing camouflage pants.

According to reports, officers approached the woman and asked her if she was a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment and she replied no. She was then informed that it was an offence to wear camouflage pants.

Police then allege the woman raised her voice saying,”Allyuh police doh have nothing better to do?” The officer then reportedly told the woman about the offence of Disorderly Behaviour. The police then allege she cursed at them and sat in the passenger side of a car parked nearby. The officer reportedly approached her again and told her she was under arrest.


According to reports, when the officer went to hold her hand she leaned backwards and kicked the officer several times.The police also say she then removed the camouflage pants and threw them at the officer. The officer then told her she would be charged for assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duty.

The woman then reportedly got out of the vehicle and walked to the Moruga police station which was a short distance away.

She could face charges of Possession of camouflage clothing, Disorderly Behaviour, Obscene Language, Resisting Arrest and Assaulting a Police Officer.
