Can you post up the specs for the A4 and A6? I went to ssl but they had no reps at the time. That A4 price fits up nicely with the 316i depending on options.

Not 100% sure. Salesman wasn't 100% clear and that white one was locked so couldn't really peruse. BMW.com says:

"The M Sport package with its innovative equipment features is based on the athleticism of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan with Sport Line and turns to the BMW M3 for its appearance. One constituent is the M Sport suspension lowered by ten millimetres with stiffer spring and damper settings as well as harder stabilisers.
Its dynamic character is emphasised by the exclusive M Sport body colour of Estoril Blue metallic, a special aerodynamics package with numerous body components, chromium exhaust pipe finishers, modified suspension settings and M Sport light-alloy wheels with a diameter of 18 or 19 inches. Front and rear bumpers, sill covers in body colour and a striking diffusor insert in Dark Shadow Metallic on the tail underline the sporting character of the M Sport package, exploiting its visual effect to the full.

On the inside, the M Sport package includes the M leather steering wheel with multifunction including short-shifter gear lever (for manual transmission) in soft leather nappa with M emblem and sports seats. The seat covers are in a characteristic fabric-Alcantara design. In addition, there are three further leather finishes.

The decorative surface is designed in Aluminium Hexagon with blue accent trim strip. The M emblem decorates the entry sill and footrest.

The M Sport package – made-to-measure ingredients for true sports enthusiasts."

but looking at the white one with the M badge it didn't look any different from the other 320i sitting there.

The M Sport package locally is the exterior(body kit and wheels), interior(Trim, sports seats and steering wheel) and Msport suspension. Does not include the variable steering as in the US.
Can opt for normal suspension and just have interior/exterior changed.. which is great.. and I don't know why SS doesn't let people do that with the Audi S-Line.

And I thought the 116 starts at 280k? Bunny you sure bout that price?

Sales guy said they had a special price for the 116i and they all sold out (@280k). I got that $325,000 price over the phone yesterday so I dunno.

I did try to spec out a 116i on bmw uk and the starting price was so low. Reminded me of Jetta pricing initially. I tried to add things to bring it up to about 30,000 pounds but couldn't so maybe that $325K is fishy. Maybe someone else can confirm?

does the rav4 come with a reverse camera system? From what I'm seeing it appears the Sorento and Santa Fe have more features overall.

I think the 2.5 engine in the rav4 serves the weight well as the vehicle will move better especially with load, going uphill and much needed passing power.

I actually prefer the 116i dash vs the 316i and saw that the light switch does not say "auto" at all plus I saw no projectors.

For the prices quoted, I am not all that impressed. I know for the Bamboo mentality Almera crowd in this forum, cruise control and auto lights are a waste of time but the higher you go in price the more critical some people become including myself wrt expectations.

Well done allergic!

renaldo, it appears karl is correct. The ad says 345k for the A4 1.8T and 478k for the A6 2.0T plus VAT. The vat inclusive price is now: $396,750. and $549,700. respectively. The A4 almost 2 years ago was $365k so the price did go up but at least we have an 8-speed transmission and a more powerful engine to show for it. The A6 2.0T was actually $574k then it was reduced to $565k and now approx. $550k which is not bad I suppose.

I must say Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, Chevrolet, Ford, Skoda, Volkswagen and Audi are competitively priced locally.

30000 pounds wouldn't equate to a 325k TTD vehicle anyway. Taxes and shipping etc would carry it way over that.
If they can have them on special at 280k, chances are that that price is closer to what they land them here for. They're not exactly 'fully loaded' anyway.

I do think prices can equate at times. Neither the Jetta nor the 1 series is made in the UK. Therefore shipping charges and VAT would apply in both final prices. Specced out Jettas similar to what we have here done on the UK website come up to approximately 24,000 pounds which matches up nicely with the cost of Jettas locally. Coincidence? I dunno.

Anyways that's why I was trying to match things up on UK and local 1 series. Funny enough I was able to get 1 series on the BMW UK page up to 27-28,000 pounds...

By the way the final prices I quote include things like taxes shipping etc.

Well I was reading in those same newspapers that Audi globally had one of their best quarters ever and I suspect that has to do with their pricing strategy. I think the Volkswagen group with Audi , Volkswagen and Skoda among them really trying to take over the world like Toyota did some years aback. I think their euros in particular especially giving those japanese and korean carmakers real tough competition which always augurs well for the consumer...When u compare what toyota, honda etc offering locally and compare price for price with some of those euros sometimes you getting twice as much car, toyota for eg selling their corolla lx at around 250 k and u getting a fully loaded jetta for almsot the same thing, and the Jetta running rings round that corolla....

Allergic2BunnyEars is right. The UK has a plethora of vehicle taxes not unlike our own. They usually come up to about 5000 pounds depending on the type of vehicle. As such when you minus their taxes and then add ours you get a final price remarkably similar to ours as he said you can really see it with the VW UK site as well as the ford Uk site. It's a good measure of how much we're being ripped off by some of the dealers here.

ANSA Seem to be doing a whole crap prices ...

First the Honda Scam and now BMW ...
I also suspect those Fords are over priced ... dunno much about the specs's but we get their crappiest engines, the 1.6 L non turbo is just sad in the high end model that is within the 240 something price mark.

Sorry if i offended anyone :)
got a little bit excited there.

Just that a Honda civic (Base spec) is the same price as a jetta.
Just checked Uk website and played around with configurations Toyota corolla Hatch (Auris) and its almost the same price as the Civic hatch.

Everywhere else Honda, Toyota, Mazda, Hyundai price their smallest sedan to be competitive here everything else is around 180 to 210 and Civic is starting at 240 ...

Hmm... How do you account for the price of the Toyota FT-86 here selling for almost half a million? In the US that car sells for about 25,000 USD. Cant tell me that is all shipping, VAT and taxes... That vehicle was manufactured by toyota to be a poor man's sports car!

Bess info there bunny.

Got to drive a pal's new sorento yesterday. It is a base model diesel. I was really impressed, plenty power, quick, lots of features, comfortable interior. The interior actually feels like its made with quality unlike the previous model. The only thing I didn't like was the stiff suspension and the steering feedback (it felt unnatural for a large vehicle, but could just be me). I'll definitely choose a sorento over a new rav 4

Hence the reason it not selling...Toyota miss out big time with that ridiculous pricing strategy, who paying that kinda money for a 2 litre flat 4 when u getting turbocharged engines in bmw, merc audi and volkswagen for less? I mean its just daft man...that should have been priced to compete with the gti and others of that ilk, toyota getting carried away yes...I dont know about you guys but Ive only seen one on the roads since its introduction....

So I managed to check out the new cerato today and I was pretty impressed.
In addition to all the features of the outgoing model this one has

Automatic HID head lamps
DRL's
reverse camera
touch screen radio ( a bit on the small side),
front and corner parking sensors,
puddle lights on the mirrors and door handles,
6 airbags
TCS/ESP
Powered driver seat with 2 memory function
cooled driver seat (not sure if it's AC or just a fan inside it)
Dual zone AC
Cruise control
Bluetooth phone ready with steering wheel controls

There is also a very well put together color LCD screen in the supervision cluster that tells you everything you need to know (think VW).

@205k I currently cannot find a better compact sedan in Trinidad.

That said the engine is the same which is acceptable but won't win any drag races and the fuel economy is about average but it does take super.

The Kia Australia site is most comparable for features. Minus the engine, leather seats, navigation and sunroof everything on ours is identical to their highest end model.
