Re: Ask ANY QUESTION HERE!!

Postby JJ16 » November 9th, 2010, 6:25 am

Well its not really a problem if you engine is burning rich, if you running 10's then that would be a problem, its a N/A engine and more or less stock, so i would say the ECU would automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio correctly... so i wont really say thats something major you need to worry about...

the other question, someone else would need to answer that, i dont really have much inside on the 4g15gdi

try taking it out a day, *unscrew* it, and just wipe it with a nice clean cotton cloth, nice and easy, and put it back.

Correct! And the MAF sensor as well.

I don't think it's advisable to swap your e-throttle with a normal throttle since the eninge would have different specifications to match that throttle it came with.

If it's to be done...you will need to make other changes etc...gas pedal would need to be adjusted since they can either be eletric or cable.
In some applications like the Nissan Tiida, the Electronic CVT works hand in hand with the E-Throttle engine; (don't know if mitsubishi has this design) but you see where I am going?? You can't just take out an e-throttle and replace it with a normal just like that!

pm Anil Sooknanan for more technical advice! 8-) 8-)

And yes there are other transmissions that can work with your 1.5 gdi lol...because it comes in cvt, a/t tranny, and a gearbox.

Ok fellas. Still have not solved my problem.

Engine - 4G92 Local

Problem - Need to keep foot on the gas pedal when starting to get it warmed up.

I was advised that the Idle Sensor needed changing. Got advice about possible replacements and tried them but none worked. Only the one from the 4G18 gave promise but then it continually kept rising and wouldn't stop. Got another local 4g92 sensor and still not working. So that's 4 different sensors ( not types ... just pieces ) tested and nothing works.

I was also advised that the brainbox was blown and thats why the sensor not working. Also was told that the crank sensor may need changing.

Can anyone advise on what the problem may be and how to fix it please? I am really annoyed now trying to sort this problem out.

For starters...if your brain box had blown you would have seen alot worst than a little idle or warming up problem.

Secondly, people say that we don't need a thermostat. But when my CS did not had the thermo for a while, the car would start up and not raise the idle to like 1500 rpm to warm engine...I does have to mash the gas a little to warm engine up.
My mechanic put in a new thermo and everytime i start up...i don't need to mash gas...the car automatically raises the idle to like 1500 rpm and warms engine.
Maybe u can look into that. I never too liked the idea of adjusting the idle on cars...but I do know Lancers have alot of idle issues over the years now eh.

^^^

Thanks man. Well I guess i can check on the thermostat.

But the idle sensor was bad for a long time so I was told that it caused that component of the brain to blow.

oh thanks man it makes sense for kick down purposes and when the car starts the throttle opens ......so can a ck2 gearbox work without issues

Added info:

Just hooked up the sensor on another car. Didn't insert it into the throttle body but the piston turned when the ignition was switched on. This does not happen with my car.

Not too sure on that...remember 4G15 comes in different versions. You can pm venum or idlemind and ask them.

Hmm..that sounds like the transmission needs to get service!

Check the tranny fluid dip stick and see if you find any black color residue on it or smell for a burnt scent.

Due to the design of the cone filter the incoming air is swirled and because of this there is a constant change in reading being picked up by the o2 and maf sensors (This is due to the gdi design), the ecu would compensate by running slightly rich. The oem filter doesn't cause this problem as it is flat. You can just get an aftermarket drop in filter.

Maybe if you can get your hands on a factory service manual on vehicles equipped with turbo and non turbo 4G63's and compare the wiring of the tranny.

Oil gives you a more comfortable ride, but gas is better for performance and handling.

I guess it would be easier to just replace the whole light set. A time my 2003 light on spoiler, 3/4 was working. I tapped at it and all works till this very day

The problem is, it would be difficult to get that light alone without spoiler. I'd start by calling M&N in the Bamboo.

Cutting and welding a chassis... What model?... What swap?

Cutting... IMHO a Sawsall or Cutting Disk is best alternative. Never use a Cutting Torch. This will weaken the heat treatment properties of High Strength steel panels in chassis and the weldment might fail and break. BTW not all panels are made of HS steel so check your particular model first... Check the Manufacturer (not local Dealer... waste of time.)

welding... IMHO DON'T weld high strength steel if you can avoid it... (See above.) As a "last ditch" alternative, use Mig Brazing for High Strength steel panels. If not available, use normal Mig (with Argon or Helium... not CO2.)

Link--> MIG Brazing.

Use this along with Mig Welding, if Mig Brazing is not available... Terocore--->
Link--> The Truth: ~ About Rollcages & Racing Harnesses.

N.B. IMHO Gusset or reinforce ALL cut/rewelded areas on the chassis.

Sonata wrote:
Subject: Ask ANY QUESTION HERE!! (NO WTB posts!)Yea the project I'm working on is an eclipse. Its the GS model which came originally with the 420a chrysler engine. I want to swap in a 4g63t. The orientation of the engine bay doesnt allow for a simple swap. A section of the chassis is blocking the gearbox from sitting in the bay. Everyone says dont cut it, but i'm not really for listening to everyone so i figured if its possible to do I'll go through with it. I've had the vehicle down for a while its time to get it running.

GS model Eclipse... Sounds like a very early FWD model. Engine bay pix definately needed. Pix of 420a chrysler engine when installed, will help too.

This swap needs a 'Gen 1' 4G63 & fwd gearbox to simplify installation... engine on left side of engine bay, facing forward.
A Gen 2 (Evo 4-9) will be more difficult (right side installation) and may require more cutting and fabrication.

Suggestions and advice from other 2nrs may help you too, so post these replys on the main thread please.

And post some pix of the engine... gearbox... and especially engine bay (maybe 2 each.)
Need pix in order to get a more informed opinion from everyone.

BTW whatever you decide... UPGRADE the brakes and suspension FIRST please. You'll definately need it.
