Does that package also include LED Daytime Running Lights/Bi-xenon?

I like the Jetta, but the new model has made it look very plain. I think they should bring back the chrome inserts on the windows. Its adds a lot to the look of the car.

Same applies to the Tiguan, now only the Sport & Style carries it. While before back in 08/09, they all did excluding possibly the Trendline.

It really can't add alot to the cost of the car.

The Jetta has DRL's.... but we don't get the LED's or bi xenon down here.

I actually prefer the new model over the previous.

Chrome highlights come with the Highline version of the car. We get Comfortlines. Chrome under each window costs about US$300 - 75 per strip.

Highlines also come with the chrome strip in the lower grille. I think the car should at least come with the chrome strip there as the all black lower grille makes the car look very plain. BUT it still looks better than the mk5 Jettas. I cringe each time I see one nowadays. Hasn't aged well unless heavilly modded.

LED drl with xenon adds 2200 euros approximately to the car. Available on highline models as well. As with everything they will probably trickle down some features from the Highline into Comfortline over the years.

I just assumed that a Jetta @ $280,000 would have been a Highline, my mistake. But then again, I know Best Auto charges $30K more for leather on the Tiguan back in 09 bcus they couldn't get the package stripped to not include power seats and heated seats.

Passat
$300,000.00 1.8 TFSI Comfortline
$333,000.00 1.8 TFSI Highline

280K for a Jetta 1.4TSI Comfortline with leather? No thanks

But, I know others will.

Makes the Passat Highline look like a great deal, for LED DRLs/Bi-xenons and Leather.

Those prices are kinda old
Last year was 310/340 for Comfortline/Highline

I could be wrong but now:
Comfortline Passat should be around 313K; Highline approx 344-347K

Their FB page has the comfortline listed on special..

I was told for $280k you get everything like in the $240k model plus leather and power seat. I like it a lot but I would expect to see LED's DRL and bi-xenon projector's in front. All is not lost I suppose especially considering that a 1.8 Civic is $290k.

So if the current 1.8 Civic which was removed off of Consumer Reports recommended list for being inferior in every way to it's predecessor is $290k, how much will the 2013 vastly improved Civic cost?

new Honda Civics are classed next to the MB B200 and BMW 1-series locally. The Civic is a compact near luxury car....the refreshed civic might be $300k who knows.

Seems to be a habit with him. Still waiting to hear what vehicles come with bi-xenon headlights for less than 290K.

Car companies have us all fooled here into thinking a Civic is worth 240K at its base price ....

a civic does not offer anything more special to justify that price point. Same basic features as corolla and equivalent spec for the corolla is abou 200k.

Everywhere else in the world a Civic is priced competitively with Elantra's, Cruze, Corolla's,

Price is so jacked up because of their all in one deal and they dont want it to cannibalize sales from the Mitsu Lancer

^^agreed. Now after listening to some Honda salesreps you swear you purchasing a luxury car. For example, "am Sir, this is a Honda" in response to my widened eyes as per price quoted. I'm like okk, does this mean because its a "Honda" is must be more expensive? Have you profiled some of these new Honda purchasers lately? Get my point? The price-point is close to the base of the Germans.

allergic, reference is made to your question above for which the following response have been prepared:

My POV is based on 1 thing: my expectation. My expectation is that for $280k those features should be present. Bi-xenon perhaps no currently however I like the fact that we get xenon HID's with LED running lights in the Kia Optima and Sportage, granted they don't bring the base Optima anymore so the price is above $280k but you can get the Sportage for less.

My understanding is we can also expect the Kia Cerato and Skoda Octavia to boast similar. Since the Kia Rio is giving us running lights with projectors not to mention rear LED's I am totally impressed.

Yeah but you look at one feature yet ignore other features totally when comparing price points. I think it's a bit unrealistic. It's like saying you won't buy an 3 series that didn't come with bluetooth at a higher price because a Jetta has it at a lower price.

We all want value for money but until the day manufacturers allow us to spec a car exactly how we like it there will always be points to nit pick at.

^^^I think buyer expectations are getting higher. Not sure if you are following the progress of these brands including our very own:

VW
Chevy
Ford
Skoda
Hyundai
Kia

These brands are giving us soo much value for money not too mention safety, its hard to ignore. Kia I think is #4 locally. Perceptions are changing every single day and the momentum generated is obvious. The new Kia showroom is probably the best I've seen locally. Very nice indeed, so trust me. Maybe they or I wouldn't knit pick at the bluetooth or touchscreen display but to others the littlest things can close the sale. As for Honda and Toyota...why are they still selling? I can sum it up as:

1) brand loyalty
2) resale value above anything else
3) accustomed to Japanese vs American/European/Korean
4) a niche segment who don't mind paying more for less safety and convenience features

My point is the brands already give you value for money yet you expect even more for less.

Leather alone adds 2000 POUNDS to the price of a vehicle. Bi-xenons as well also add at least 2200 EUROS to the cost of a vehicle due to leveling motors, inclination sensors along with the lenses themselves. Those two options can add at least 30,000 TT dollars (and that's a conservative figure) to the base price. Add VAT and you are already looking at an extra 4500 AT LEAST. How do you then expect more for less at this point?

I am just quoting VW because that's the brand I am most familiar with but I am sure other manufacturers will follow similar processes not just here but in other countries as well.

It's similar to requesting a large car with a 2.5 litre engine for less than TT$300K. Mathematically you up against a wall just due to engine tax and VAT on that tax. It would be nice to get...is it realistic? Not really.

Down here laws do not mandate for DRLs. Although it has been shown internationally to help reduce accidents via increased visibility. I appreciate my car came with DRLs but it wasn't a determining factor in the purchase.

It's mandated throughout Europe and North America with varying weather patterns. Pretty sure not just Scandinavia reached the same conclusion.
