The 2020 General Election Thread (AUGUST 10TH)

Postby j.o.e » August 12th, 2020, 1:53 pm

So PEA want a online voting system. Lol.... a whole new set of complaints and chest burn will happen with that. PEP couldn’t even make a note in seat. They have no grounds to complain

If PEA stepped down shouldn't the new leader be the one doing all the requesting? Or is he advocating on behalf of himself a private citizen?

Aye pnm thief the elections. Rowley and co hadda go. Democracy was stolen from us. PEP/UNC was meant to represent us. They have a fuzzy video on fb of someone that the original poster claims to be is al rawi. That fuzzy person who cannot be fully identified visited a polling station and dropped off some envelopes that op with his xray vision know contains votes meant for pnm to steal the election. Enough is enough! Down with pmm and their thiefing tactics

The level of mismanagement and stealing under the pnm and 1% is legendary. Pnm couldn't govern themselves out of Marlene hole

I'm seeing a fairly common sentiment being expressed here and on other social media platforms that 'PNM win because PNM voters does only vote race'.

Are we suddenly pretending that there isn't a hardcore subset of 'UNC voters' who will also vote for the UNC no matter what?

Didn't the People's Partnership win overwhelmingly in 2010 because some of those same 'PNM voters' were willing to give KPB a 'chance' to right the 'wrongs' of the Manning administration?

It's interesting how those same so-called 'PNM voters' are now being referred to as 'kants' because of their unwillingness to continue supporting KPB.

It's also interesting that even in the face of the many so-called 'achievements' that the UNC boasted of from their 2010-2015 term, that the electorate still decided to reject them in 2015 and now 2020.

Perhaps the reason for the switch in support could be tied to other factors? Like scandal after scandal? The many, many hirings and firings of ministers? The many allegations of corruption? All of that is debatable till we're blue in the face.
(I'm speculating of course)

Race-based voting is here to stay, which is why proportional representation is a slippery slope. It's always the fence-sitters...the non-aligned voters who will always make the difference. Those are the voters the UNC needs to appeal to. Waste of time trying to sway 'PNM voters'. Likewise for PNM and 'UNC voters'.

A big part of the reason the partnership won was because it was thought that the COP could act as a buffer as they campaigned on a morality in public life platform. When they emerged in 2007, they recieved over 148,000 votes which is rare for a first time third party....if the had teamed up in 2007, they would have won

What do you mean? They probably just realize that the UNC is going nowhere under Kamla. They need to reorganize and get a leader that can most effectively do this.

A UNC internal take over will be attempted in the next internal elections. If unsuccessful they will form a 3rd party that will far rival COPs previous success.

Always remember, UNC in 2007 had big popular names associated with them. COP had some as well, but UNC was equal if not better on paper.

This UNC is a far far cry from that party in 2007. Aside from Kamla and Roodal there is no one who has a strong popular public image. The min a 3rd party pulls the public support, the noobs in UNC will beg to come across.

UNC will either fold or be remade into UNC 3.0.

Forming third party and all that almost always leads to them losing. UNC would be so strong if all the anti-PNMs could unite and come together, sort of like in 2010 but instead they always so disorganized.

most mixed black people have some slave owner as a descendent as an ancestor....if you have a white ancestor more than 75 years back dated, then you have a slave owner or someone high up on the plantation society as an ancestor

Big sabotage and yet still she gained a seat from PNM and possibly the popular vote. Also lost la Horquetta/talparo by only a couple hundred votes.

All the internal backstabbing and the woman still almost come out on top. But she should resign?

If UNC supporters take that then they deserve whatever they get. Way Moonilal and them? Howcome they sp quiet all of a sudden?

Wait. Racial discrimination against her family. She just made it worse.

Trinis did not discriminate when it came to spending millions of $ in your family business over many years.

The PNM did not discriminate when your grandfather got the schools contract to supply juice back in the day. I think it was grapefruit and orange. Those were the days before peanut punch.

This is up for debate but I don't believe they are backstabbing. They realize they aren't going anywhere dude. How many elections you want them to lose before they reorganize?

You can make the winning one seat a positive or a negative. Normally after 5 years, people get fedup and want change. A lot of people were fedup of PNM but they didn't capitalize on it. She also made several mistakes during the campaign.

I doubt internal elections will replace her with Moonilal though.

The Aboud issue was well ventilated on this forum and he paid a very heavy price for it as well.
