Local UWI ~ Seismic Research Centre
The staff of The UWI Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC) extends our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the late Jillian St. Bernard.
Jillian started her career at The UWI-SRC in 2009 as one of the first C.O.R.E. (Creating Opportunity from Research Experience) interns to work at the Centre. With a background in physics and computer science, Jillian worked diligently on all tasks that were assigned.
After her internship she returned to The UWI St. Augustine pursuing a Master’s degree in geoinformatics, later coming back to The UWI-SRC as a Research Assistant in 2011.
As an RA she worked on a number of projects including the GFDDR (Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery) Risk Atlas Project where she assisted in the creation and maintenance of GIS data. She also worked on the GEM (Global Earthquake Model) initiative, where at the invitation from the GEM administrators, she participated in a two month visit to the GEM headquarters in Pavia, Italy.
In 2013, she moved on to further her studies.
Jillian was a young lady with tremendous promise that now will never be realised.
It is with deep sadness we say goodbye.
May her soul rest in peace.
