and i really wanted to get a skoda...the new one has a little more features but I dunno...it just seems like some of these local car firms love a money.
but overall the price is still good for the caliber of vehicle you are getting once you are willing to drive a vehicle with the SKODA AUTO logo....it was very much shunned in the past...

for real bro..but at the previous price 165k....dat was highly competitive against what ya paying for a CY lancer or Corolla...I dunno where these marketing ppl in sterling does keep dey brains na...let alone their jobs.....

all dem had to do was maintain the 165k and push real marketing canpaigns..ya woulda see how dat sell like hot bread...dem shoulda hire me in dey yes..steups...my decision was between this an the ford focus though....but budgter permits a trend edition..only difference I see between that and the GHIA is fogs..so 140k seems right for a trend

I am part of an organisation where we have 11 Skoda drivers...a mixture of the last version and the present one....and as you talk that FORD talk...i never really checked them out..hmmm
I shoudl eh but i was jsut one track euro-minded....I think the focus is pretty safe...what about 'bandit-ability'....bandits want it??

well the fords we getting here are EURO spec...crash rating is 5stars...its same platform what the mazda 3 has....focus have a world renowned security system built into the car called securi-lock....bandit can't begin to comprehend how to disable that system....in the US especially...even if they get the key somehow to start it, it won't start as the original key has a transponder built into it which operates via radio waves....also..it is euro in that if you lock and arm the car...even if dey bust the glass out...the doors still don't open..trust me..you should def consider it also

and it's 140??? what is the diff

also...what is the difference between the basic model for 140 and the GHIA model?

Of course!!!all euro spec cars have it on the left..only difference in the trend and GHIA is rear disc, wood trim and fogs I believe..see link below

nes, you should check out the Kia Cerato or the Hyundai Elantra. I think the Yaris and Rio is within the 140k budget. The Focus is nice though but I was told the trend has manual windows in the back.

agreed...however the goal is to get something bandit proof and has a euro feel..IMO the hyundai i30 hatch is impressive and I feel @125hp CVVT can give the swift sport some trouble :skurred: ...might have some zuki gurus here...hadda watch how I talking.. ...the trend now coming powered rear windows now, only 1yr ago it came manual

^^^ no need to hide the face man, the 1.6 dohc 16v cvvt engine in the elantra/cerato as i mentioned in another thread is the most powerful 1.6 in its class right now. It has 156Nm of peak torque more than the Swift Sport, Civic, Mazda3, SX4 and Optra. It has more torque than a Honda B16A (Civic SiR) and the D17A (Civic 170i). Its a heavy car for its size though. How much is the i30 hatch? I saw it in the showroom while passing the other day.

true...well it built in Europe too..so quality wise its up there in the region of ford territory...but as I say I rather buy a ghia...not biased but the review I saw says though the drive is decent, its not really as impressive as a Kia Cee'd..so thats to tell ya no way dat comparing to a ford in terms of drive quality and feel..just sayin :P

^^^AFAIK, no Koup in T&T only sedan and they call it Cerato down here. Lastly, don't get your hopes up, its not a 2.4L its a 1.6 over here. If you could live with 2 extra doors and 800cc less then you good to go.

the prices of these cars are very discouraging

i remembered when the Toyota Royal Saloon was the first locally assembled car to hit the 100k mark and even then to now, very few cars could touch that vehicle

Any1 have fiurther details on the offer from Bavarian Motors for the BMW 320i.....the ad in the papers says $28000 down.....what are the installments like and what are the other qualifying criteria?

I know I could call the company but they will just hound you or say you have to come in or something.....just want to get the facts

ek4ever, The price is about $400K with a few options. You can organize financing on your own. You'll need to call them about the $28K down though, I'm not sure if there's a catch to that.

^^Well trying to avoid that, calling them that is.....I notice they're now advertising the 5 Series at $33000 down and the Mazda CX7 for $20000 down.....of course the fine print says for qualifying customers (don't know what tis is) and no mention of the installments or repayment period. Oh well was hoping someone already got the details....I'll probably give them a call next week
