I went to change them at mileage mac and my boy said drive them till they are dead, so working on that

That trip was to 3 pools, but past the pools and up river to the waterfall ... and back.
Awesome trip!

I agree, the Duelers are one of the two things I hate about the truck. The other being the no filter for the external A/C vent. But I think it makes sense to wear down the tires before changing them. You save more in the long run....just take it easy on wet roads.

BTW, great pics Go Slow! I see you're taking advantage of the capabilities of your truck......again! 8-)

Yup.
When i picked it up last tuesday, in sanfernando, it rained teribbly all the way from south to caroni and the drive was frightening to say the least. went straight to the tyre shop to check out some already pre thought options and I was told the same thing.
So, like you Marcus, im also working on that.

on a sidenote, this shiftknob, any one seen them selling anywhere?

you can trade them in - as well as put it up for sale in the classifieds - someone will grab it up in no time - but really sell them before the real heavy rains come........

I drive it like i stole it, van rips tires today just like it did on day one, I just service it on time and put diesel. Never used an additive , nothing ... Perfect example of what a hassle free new vehicle should be like.

After what you've been through in the past 5 yrs, a decent working cortina would feel hassle free!!

Well as You said over and over here, amazing ride!
Even though its the 4x2, the ride is a bit bumpy which is expected.
Filled up the tank twice since June 1...(yes twice) and got 475 - 502, respectively and thats with AC and moderate driving (lol).
Its comfort i hope remains, because it truly is an enjoyable ride. Money well spent IMO.
Changed out the horn already with a pair of Mitsuba (euro sounding) horns which was a task by itself seeing that it involved the removal of the front grill for installation, as it cant be mounted where the original single beep beep horn was installed. Definately a worthwhile upgrade.
If any of you doing this let me know as i would tell you how to remove that tricky grill!!. Lil bit of headache, but after 2 hours, i managed to do it without breaking the damn thing!.
Took of the plastic from the driver and passenger seats only yesterday because they started tearing. Need to get some covers and scotchguard asap as the seats are black and i cant see that they'll mark/ soil easily.
This van runs like a beyotch and im truly impressed with everything. It makes you want to accelerate hard.

Cant go wrong....Im happy so far.got it with 75k and now at 800 - ish..
rhino lining and rims/tyres next.

Safe driving guys.

red sleeper - throw up some pics dude - 4x2 - 2.5 turbo - its lighter than the 4x4 so you have more hp gains. Trade in those rims and tires and go for a nice 18's with some good 265/60/18 HT's. Better traction and better road handling.
Or sell me the rims alone....:)

^^Offer Price? lol
Pics soon. also, wrt to 18" rims, i was told by the salesman that id have to change back everytime i come in for service , cause it affects warranty. I for one EH going thru that. I saw one with it tho, it looked wicked. 17's if anything at all. Tyres definately have to be changed, so id like to organise everything in one shot.
better organise a good deal with your bro for me!!!

Go slow...i dont have a clue what youre talking about.lol.

fellas, after doing a river crossing on the track to 3 pools im getting excessive sweaking in my suspension, app. this is normal with the rangers, i was wondering if anyone knows of a good way to lubricate the suspension/ bushing like with silicon oil, or a lub spray? minus shock oil or a grase gun

JD, When was your last service? Did they pay any attention to your suspension?

There are exposed areas in the Ranger suspension where grease is applied and can be washed away in extreme conditions....specifically the ends of the torsion bars. I'm not sure of the type of grease, but it should be listed in your owners manual. All I remember is it is a red coloured grease and it's easy to dab it on yourself.

Next time you go in for a service mention that you went through water. There may be other areas the Service guys will have to look at.... specifically your rear differential.

A simple underwash and lube/shock oil application at any service station will take care of the issue.
Im on 2050 on the odo in 2 wks
Nice runs tho!

service was done last week, i grease twice month with shell rimulex (recommended). my suspension has been replaced with a full Ironman kit.

yesterday i went to Peak and bought 3 in 1 high performance lubricant spray with PTFE and sprayed out the front bushings and the suspension noise has dramatically been reduced.

we got a vid of the river crossing, ill post it when i get it from the person, but during the crossing water was covering the bonnet, a lil deeper than expected, but the truck really impressed me that day.

Just dropped off my van for the 15k service and I asked about the clunk I occasionally get when I step hard on the brakes. The service guy says it's the torsion bars flexing under the heavy load, but they'll still look at the issue for me.

On another note...and this is a silly one....but anyone noticed that these vans seem to run better when they are due for a service?

Well sorry eh.... ah fix it.

When I collected the card, the letter attached was dated july 2009. Apparently it was ready since I bought the van, just the sales person forgot to pass it on.
