btw droppa... (or anybody else) any word yet on the carbon steel (or "chrome moly" seamless
tube for the roll cages? Nothing new for over two weeks... "Project Cage" gonna die fellas. :(

This is what we're lookin' for (or "chrome molly" tubing as a substitute???)
Image
This is the FIA spec.
Image

These are the connectors I'm talking about...
Image

Here are some simple cage designs for now...
Image

These are a little more detailed... and safer too!
You need to cut a hole in the dashboard with cup-saw... I have one...
"Bolt-in" type too. Direct load in a straight line to floor... No 'bend' = No collapse...
Image

This connects rear suspension turrets for even stiffer chassis...
Image

The Ultimate... Sparco Evo 8... This one's a "built-in"...
Image
Image
Image
The only things that I don't like about Sparco's cage (for "street" use) are the absence of
"very heavy" padding... and the "weld-in" belt restraints pointing at the rear-seat passengers.
IMHO they should be facing forward and slightly down, ... out of everyone's way.

My $0.02c...
I'll assemble my E6 cage this week and post some pix later. :D

Not sure.. but I think that's specific to the UK market only... for MOT compliance(???)

... and that's why I asked if "chrome molly" seamless (2mm) could also be used as
a substitute...
I don't know...

^yep, I think it was only for the UK market, that is the kind of look I want to go for, so It would look as if it came from the UK

AFAIK even the 'auto' Lancers were assembled locally, for McErnearny (?)Ltd., at Amalgamated Industries Ltd. at Tumpuna Road, Arima. My Dad worked there for many years.

Subject to correction here... but all 'local' Lancers had the chassis numbers on a welded plate on the left side strut tower. Foreign Lancers had the chassis number "stamped" onto centre/right side of firewall. Amalgamated Industries didn't have that type of stamping equiptment AFAIK.

That's one way to 'spot' a bogus "foreign" GSR with local old plates trying to "beat the taxman". All genuine JDM GSRs has numbers on firewall. If there's any repair around left strut tower... and more fresh paint around firewall... BUY ANOTHER GSR! Either buy a "taxed" foreign used car (with "papers") or a local conversion with real certified copy with registered changes.

These "falsies" can/ will (eventually) be confiscated by Licencing Officers/Police.

My $0.02c

yeah thanks fellas...wish it was still ours though :!:

some tips to make ur LIGHTS look new
reverse lamp- wash out lenses and paint the entire metal part white..not silver.
front bumper indicators-could do the same as above.
rear lights-once is original stanleys take a small brush an wash out the dust from inside.
problem with the front grill with d clips by the park lamps..hold it down in place then tie it with a thin piece of wire runnin from the outside to inside

8-)

^ Nice tips man, also, with the back lights (or reverse etc.) you can cut "crome" Vinyl and cover the reflector on the inside, carefully though, cutting on the curves to lay it down properly.

saw a guy with Capri headlights, same shape and size just needs to be mounted upside down. You end up with a double headlight. Looks sporty but..........
I'll try to find some pics somewhere.

^^^The Capri lights don't look half bad. I was contemplating a double headlight conversion for mine, and a change of grille too, but I think I will stay with the original look.
^Sweet, Gsr?

^Wonder if when is time for me to get a second car for daily running if that would be a good option. I not too keen on getting a front wheel drive car. Only prob with that option is parts.
