Depends on where I am at the time. On the road I use an iPhone with the Tapatalk app to browse this forum. Tapatalk allows me to upload pics on iPhone to Tuner servers or Tapatalk servers.

If I'm home I can upload pics to Flickr then I take a link for the photo and embed it in the post using the image posting tool icon that is in the toolbar of the compose message page.

Allergic you satisfied with your stock sound system? Any plans to upgrade that at any point?

I feeling hard to have to dig up in a brand new car to get a proper sound system, but I may have to.

You know any audio installers familiar with these cars?

Depends on what you bump in the whip. If you into dancehall and stuff it may not be adequate.

Rock and alternative it should handle easy.

Bumping rap and rnb it is pretty decent once the bass is not overly complex. It plays Kanye's "Mercy" song easily distort free at high volumes because the bass is simple and long. Songs like Nas' "purple" it distorts at higher volumes because the speakers are asked to do too much. At speeds above 130 kph you may find yourself lowering the volume by a click because when the car automatically raises the volume it distorts.

If you looking to have sound off and thing you will need a new sound system. At least a dedicated subwoofer.
Take a cd with you on another test drive and crank up the volume.

I eh play a soca cd yet so no feedback. Same for calypso.

Distortion is my only issue. Voices and other instrument clarity are handles well by the system.

i couldnt try the jetta's system cuz it wasn't yet pdi'd

the passat's sounded pretty decent, but i find it was lacking some definition with respect to cymbals on certain tracks, and certain bass guitar notes. thing is, some of those tracks were mp3s on one of the rep's sd cards, and some the quality were crap.

i'm actually going in tomorrow to check back the cars and decide. i'll be walking with some reference tracks this time for proper comparison.

No real updates nah. Car going to service at BA tomorrow. Will be back with servicing costs. Should be routine oil and oil filter change. One minor issue is my AC smells mouldy at times just after putting it on then it goes away. Hopefully BA can sort that out. Will also ask about any software updates for DSG.

Car went in for servicing. Was done in a timely manner. Oil and oil filter change. All the staff I met were pleasant. No complaints from me (that's saying alot  )
Bill was $1063. Will post a breakdown of bill this evening.

AC issue didn't rear its head during servicing so dealer didn't touch anything with respect to that.

in my experience the moldy smell happens to cars after a while but yours is pretty new. It's usually caused by moisture in the system, check and see if the condensate drip line in't clogged or leaking.

My co-worker is out of the country, but BA did the repair and she has the car. Not sure what transpired.

Not straightforward. Lots of conflicting info online too. May require a harness and new controller. I've been waiting for more concrete info.

Eco - are you're confirming you can remap the 2012 Passat 1.8 TSI without need for ECU modification or export?

Confirmed....I am doing locally, but I am not adding anything to the ECU once I remove it from the car for remapping.

I am offering 1yr/12,000km warranty also

Duration of upgrade (how long does process take)? And are you mobile (willing to travel)?

i was just told that the Jetta is back at BA for it's 3rd, yes 3rd Mechatronic Unit.
any idea why this car seems to be eating these units.
i'm starting to have thoughts about avoiding this car.

If n&m don't have it I doubt you will get it anywhere locally but check ERM.

Best bet after that would be a foreign dealer and skybox it down here. Us spec jettas should have the same windscreen. Pc down so I don't have access to etka to get the part number for you but contact this Vw parts seller and he would be able to find the correct part and order it for you. His prices are good too.

Chad Niebell
Email: cniebell@fcdealerships.com

Alternatively you get the parts number from him and try to source from another source online butninhighly recommend Chad. He is prompt and knows his sheit.

Good luck. How'd your screen get damaged anyway?

Thanks for the info.

Yea my luck to be heading west on wrightson road yesterday morning when a man went mental and was meandering on the road, stepped in front of me so i had to stop. He proceeded to smash my windscreen with his bear hands, dude was a huge. He then proceeded to assault other cars and a woman walking to work before the police came to subdue and arrest him.

Turns out the man is actually a police officer. Apparently he tripped off and went mental for reasons unknown to me.

I more concerned with getting the windscreen fixed. I suffered no other damage.

Got it sourced abroad for about 399 USD with shipping to my skybox by next Friday.

Of course there are inherent risks of breakage with airfreight. Double Zee said they had one but they want me to bring the car to confirm that the rear view mirror fixture is exact. Apparently there are many variations of the rear view mirror fixture for the Jetta. Hopefully its a match and i could get the windscreen fixed in quick time.

Ok. Must e some issue checking on mobile or so. Will check on pc.

If it has the self study programs that link is invaluable. The SSPs for the twincharger and 7 speed dsg are very interesting.
