hopefully this will send a message to those who want to go turtle watching and harass the turtles, that it is not right to do..

education is needed desperately in order to combat such sort of behaviour and an improvement in patrols along beaches where turtles come to nest is a must.

we should appreciate that they choose to come and nest on our beaches, especially with the recent international media coverage (National Geographic) shows how fortunate we are.

That is my thought, it looked in such bad shape. Maybe it went into shock from having him jump on it, and then all that flash photography in it's face

Anyone can describe what was said on TV6 then? Did they show his pic or name him, or say where the photos came from?

that guy looks like he weighs well over 220lbs, plus he's surrounded by several other douchey looking individuals, so they might have done the same (pure speculation though). I believe one of the unique things about the leatherback turtles is the fact that it's carapace (sp?) isn't made of hard bone, but rather layers of skin. That said, I think there's a good possibility that the turtle is now dead (again, speculation) if her shell was severely damaged by this oaf :roll:

i really sad for that turtle jed. know how old she probably is? how hard she struggle in life to make it where she is...? she get knock up by some turtle dude, and she bore it, swam half way across the world, to come make her children at the place where she was born. She wants to give her kids a chance to liveee....to be free, to sail the tropical waters..
..an she come in the shore..only for some turtlebulla to come and molest she. To break she back and crush all her eggs...destroy her life...and her children too..
