very well said. the GTR delivers very good value for your dollar. No one can argue with that.

just for thought, (i'm throwing this out there) would that make the GTR better than a 911 gt3, a mercedes amg e63, m3, or the IS F? it would be cheaper in some cases/ has more power in others but does that make it better?

Imho and as eliteauto rightfully said one is a semi supercar and the other is an exotic. these two should not be compared, they are not in the same category but just because they're both japanese, people can't seem to get past that.

Thats why I needed you to explain your position because when you said "GTR>LFA in every applicable sense" the only real reason that anyone would choose the GTR over the LFA is the price. It is value for money especially compared to the LFA. I was hoping that we could leave price out of the equation just this once (even though it is really the only thing that matters) and compare the cars directly to each other as in the days of the skyline vs the supra! I wish I never posted the drag race video because as you would have noticed in my first post what makes these cars interesting to compare is their torque specs and power delivery characteristics. Don't make the thread dull by getting hung up on price. Neither of us can afford either of them

^^^ You forgot weight as an important factor as well ;)

IMO the LFA is a shortfall of what everyone was expecting. Limited production at a ridiculous price tag with "European traits" doesn't make a car an exotic IMO especially one from Toyota. They should've stuck to making sports cars especially since it was touted by many as being a replacement to the Supra...which I am still waiting on by the way. The LFA IMO is a limited production run of a prototype (it does have a prototype look :s ) that should have stayed in Toyota/Lexus' stable as R&D in anticipation of the "proper" Supra.

BTW tunability and aftermarket support is where auto-enthusiasts are currently at. They're now extensively modding cars that few would dare touch except for in-house tuners (e.g. AMG) in the hopes of squeezing that last bit of performance and making us dreamers giggle like little girls.

A bloody good review of the LFA

Qotes that best sum up my view on the LFA

evolution lover wrote:Though i am not as informed about both cars its hard to compare both in a sense as the objectives seem to be night and day to an extent.

Lexus brand is clealry luxury end of the spectrum whose drive is elegance class and exclusivity so lexus said lets take TOYOTA cheque book and what toyota learned in F1 and make something that has things that should be on no road driven sports car.Lexus/Toyota designed a new weave for what?Just to flex it muscles and beat there chest a little.

Quite honestly nothing wrong with that.Clearly lexus doesnt plan to make any money of these cars if they only making 500 ..which is why i speak of brovado as they clearly know the price they charge cant cover extensive r&d they did but it was done regardless.

Alot of this will spill into the pipeline of the next cars to come out that will be in full production which is the silver lining .

If u want to say "i have one of these" u buy an LFA if you more concerned about baragin racer buy a gtr..i think its that simple.Anyone that buying LFA not buying it cause it can go round the ring X seconds faster than the gtr they want it because it represents showing off in style of what we can do with equal or similar performance of summin u will never own
just my opnion still

I'm a Toyota enthusiast.

If someone took me to see these two cars and asked me to choose one without telling me the price, I'll take the Lexus.

But, if this car was developed for a different market, I'd say Toyota dropped the ball by going RWD vs AWD, V10 vs 6 (straight or V) and N/A vs boost - if they were going for market share. Clearly, this car, with the price tag, is not competitive to capture market share. It's exclusive.

I love the GTR - go all the way back. But it's not a supercar. It remains designated to that special parking spot right outside MovieTowne box office. The manufacturers' achievements are being compared here; the cars are just too different to each other to make a worthwhile, CONCLUSIVE comparison, unless your sole concern is output - and even in that regard, each has its own strengths.
