Some run MUCH quieter than others .. etc. etc ...

Service really does matter tho ...

well i was told by a prominent A/C dealer that teh components are all made by almost the same people. Just like a computer.

Fact #1. Peake Units are in fact good and reliable.
Fact#2 Peake units are affordable
Fact #3 Peake, as far as I know offer the best service around which leaves...

why the hell am I looking around to pinch a penny or buy some fancy thing when it needs to be serviced every 3-4 months?

I doe know boy. We've had Peake's window units since I know myself, and they've all worked great and lasted long.

The split units, I not so sure about though. Years ago, the office I used to work in, we had at least one give some sort of trouble every week.
Oh yea, that office was Peake's in Chaguaramas BTW  Mind you, this was about 10 years ago.

Also had them in my last office again in Chaguaramas and they gave trouble fairly regularly.

Could be the Chaguaramas sea blast though :?

it's cold wave it is an affordable unit that works well. I have about 3 installed where I work.

I recently replace the LG I have home with one of these.

I also Installed 5 of these units a few weeks ago.

it is the average unit not the best but certainly not the worst of the set plus the back up service is good because I can get parts locally.

In terms of efficiency again it is a good unit cools the space well once it is sized properly as with all units

and I will say it again 80% of the unit in Trinidad come from the same factory and the only difference is the name on the unit and the face of the evaporator

The Brand names units like Carrier, tobisha, LG are at the top of the list but cannot be beat the rheem, diakin or trane.
