Like China did, with much success. China just lifted their restrictions. Toronto and UK has just started the same with extreme quarantine measures. France has done it as well with a lockdown permission form for only necessary travel. Only essential jobs on the roads.

SOE / lockdown is the only way to resolve this locally....actually for most countries, because humans are generally dotishfucks

My sister was able to come back on Sunday.
Some of the precautions we took:
Took a separate car to the airport for her to drive to quarantine location.
Maintained distance from her at all times.
Soaked all her baggage with lysol and bagged them in garbage bags to load into the car to reduce the risk of contamination.
She then drove to the house and took all the stuff inside, immmediately removed clothing at the door and put in a bag for washing and went and showered.
We will be dropping food supplies as needed until the 14 days are over and we are hoping she doesn't develop symptoms.

Sadly, this didn't seem to be how the rest of arrivals were being dealt with. :\

Great that you all took precautions. But what about the ppl they interact with on the flight. Flight attendants etc, also when landed. Immigration officer etc. Still find the situation could have been handled differently

We really have to jump through hoops to avoid this virus. Hope she isn’t infected.
Stay safe!

Novel Coronavirus - “COVID 19” - 52 cases confirmed in T&T

Hello ST Auto,

The flight crew for quite sometime were not required to self quarantine. Imagine these are flights that over night at destinations, commuting just as passengers would abroad. And when they return, only the passengers were “asked” to self quarantine.

It then changed to all arriving flight crew from international flights must SQ. Less than 12 hours later, it changed as they realized they would run out of flight crew. So all who were issued quarantine letters were now asked to disregard...lmao, you now come from JFK and “disregard”. And all crew arriving after that were not instructed to SQ.

These are the loop holes.

The MOH said multiple times that the airport is not where you want to be. Remember we have customer service agents, airline security, what about the fellas loading those stink smelly bags on the aircraft....nobody concerned about them being a risk.....even the cleaners, they are nobody to society...smh

The borders must be remained closed with NO exceptions. Those people in Barbados and Magarita...wait it out and stop complaining.

Most people cant afford to do that.
Seperate car to go airport? Quarantine in a house by herself?

I agree that we were very lucky to be able to find somewhere for her to stay and had an extra vehicle. There are things that can be done to mitigate in the absence of that but people need to know how serious this is and to minimise how many people come into contact with people coming in and those who do need to be extremely careful around them.

That's the thing the persons who gone and bringing it back are mostly well off and can withstand the necessary hardships associated with being quarantined. Like a meme I saw where people getting a foreign virus and don't even have a passport....

Things are too relaxed right now for Trinis to care.

Btw,

Any reason why these Lysol cans in some establishments have what resembles a sheit stain on the nozzle?

Clean it.

cant agree with that, have plenty students who were on scholarships and then plenty people who were hiding and working abroad and decide to run home to trinidad because they cant afford to get stuck outside......

the majority who run home wouldnt be well off.

I know he saying stay at home, but I want to pass grocery on Thursday or Friday for a few essential items. I hope this activity can be allowed. I have read that handling cash is a big no-no now, and Toronto has mostly stopped direct cash transactions.

wonder if this imported community case was out and about during the period of asymptomatic incubation ?
they should say what area the persons from to drive the point closer to home

as it is right now everybody saying "is only imported cases from travelling and cruises"

Trini-born principal, 36, dies in Brooklyn of covid19 complications
Laurel V Williams

A 36-year-old Brooklyn principal, who was originally from Trinidad, died on Monday evening owing to complications from covid19, according to several US media reports.

Dez-Ann Romain was the principal of Brooklyn Democracy Academy in Brownsville.

A report by chalkbeat.org said it was the first known death of a public school staff member which was related to the pandemic in New York.

"This is painful for all of us, and I extend my deepest condolences to the Brooklyn Democracy Academy community, and the family of principal Romain," schools chancellor Richard Carranza said in a statement.

He was also quoted as saying: "We’ll be there for the students and staff through whatever means necessary during this impossibly difficult time."

Since March 16, the city’s public schools have been shut down. However, teachers and principals were still asked to report to work for three days last week. This move, the article said, garnered criticism among some educators and observers, who feared for their health and worried they could spread the disease.

CBS New York also reported the death.

An article by James Gordon in the Daily Mail on Tuesday said the academy that Romain headed is a transfer school for students who struggled in other schools.

There have been 125 covid19-related deaths in New York City, it said.
