4.24 EPIC !

Love the part @3.42 too. Messi watch him like WTF and just continue going about business as usual.

This remind me of Messi trying to reach Alves cross to score the 3rd goal a couple weeks ago. From about 1 min in the video.

so allyuh hear Abramovich is prepared to make Pep the richest manager in the world in order to get him at Stamford Bridge next season?

Pep already insists on signing short term contracts with Barca and is yet to renew his contract. he has already accomplished so much with Barca, who can blame him for trying to do the same with another club? that would really make him a legendary manager.

thoughts?

Abramovich to target Guardiola

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has sent out the message that he wants the best manager in the world and has targeted Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola in the summer after a move for Rafa Benitez fell through.

Having decided to sack Andre Villas-Boas, Benitez was considered on a short term deal until the end of the season, but it collapsed as the former Liverpool boss wanted a minimum of a two-year contract.

ESPNsoccernet sources hinted that Benitez might well have been interviewed last Wednesday for around five hours and that, on Friday, Abramovich's hierarchy had an emergency meeting to decide whether to axe AVB ahead of the match at West Brom.

After deciding to give him one final chance, a 1-0 defeat to the Baggies sealed his fate and Guardiola is now the coach Abramovich believes can sort out the mess at Stamford Bridge as he would command total respect for his achievements with the stellar names at the Nou Camp.

A source told ESPNsoccernet: "Roman wants the best in the world, so Guardiola clearly fits the bill, if he can get him of course. There have been one or two English managers names put forward, like Harry Redknapp and Glenn Hoddle, but Roman and his advisors like the men in vogue and they are usually the foreign coaches."

Guardiola has yet to decide whether he will extend his contract at the Nou Camp for another year, and the interest from Chelsea is sure to delay any decision still further as Abramovich is ready to make him the richest manager of all time.

And for those who doubt the greatness of Leo Messi;
Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has become the first ever player to score five goals in a single Champions League match following Wednesday's 7-1 thrashing of Bayer Leverkusen at Camp Nou.

Breaking the four goal record held by
Alfredo Di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas and Marco van Basten

In addition
Messi has now taken his tally to 12 goals in Europe this season, equalling Ruud van Nistelrooy's 2002-03 record for the most number of goals in a single edition of the Champions League.

Also
Barcelona superstar out to emulate German legend by topping European Cup scoring charts for a fourth time
The 24-year-old has finished as top scorer in the last three editions of the Champions League and heads the pack in 2011-12 too as he closes in on yet another impressive mark

As Pios does say, the magic of the Camp Nou :D

The Hand of Messi...5 goals!!! King Messi!

On another note, the performance of UCL debutant, Tello, was incredible, he could of scored a hatrick in this game. Homegrown FTW!

Watching Tello for a few games this season and he has been very impressive. Cuenca is good (dribbles pass players and sends in good crosses) but Tello (who can dribble pass a player as well) for me gets the nod in front of Cuenca because of his pace and finishing. Messi has some serious pace but Tello looks like he is a little faster.

Sides playing Barca tend to defend the right side of Barca'a attack stronger (because of Alves) and tend to leave the winger on the left sometimes really open (Villa, Pedro, Henry when he was there.)

Tello's skill and pace means at times he will go past the right back one on one, or time his run while getting a pass straight down the wing. This would leave him either one on one with the keeper or enough time to deliver a cross to an open team mate.(As we saw in the last game and others.) If Tello keeps beating the right back (and he keeps doing it in the games I've seen him play) they must send another defender or midfielder to double team him and that leaves good open space for Messi, Iniesta, Cesc to run through the middle. Coupled with Alves running down the right, the other sides defense will be stretched for sure.

One thing though is that Pedro has to really step up his game in the near future. Tello and Cuenca are knocking on his door. Worse yet is when Alexis and Villa comes back. Then there is Affelay too.

After I wrote all of that I now read this article...

Tello the super-sub

The scorer of a brace against Bayer 04 Leverkusen has scored a goal every 66 minutes he has played, an even better average than that of Leo Messi

He has only ever started two first team matches, but has taken his chances extraordinarily well, with six goals already to his name

Cristian Tello is proving to be the perfect super-sub. The Barça B player has scored six times in the 366 minutes he has been offered with the first team in the Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League. His finest showing yet came against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, where he was on target twice on his European debut, and that despite only being on the pitch for 40 minutes.

Fast and decisive, and always playing on the left, Tello has an average of a goal every 66 minutes. Not even Messi, who has scored once every 93 minutes, can boast stats like that, although the Argentinian has played considerably more minutes, 3,291 this term.

Twice a starter, eight times a sub

Most of Tello's goals have been scored as a substitute. He has only every been in the first eleven twice, against l'Hospitalet in the cup (0-1) and Real Socieidad in the league (2-1)), both times playing the full ninety minutes, and both times scoring Barça's first of the night.

Tello has scored his other five goals as a substitute. He managed braces against both l'Hospitalet (9-0) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (7-1), while he also netted what was ultimately only a consolation goal at Osasuna.

With competition like that for a starting pick on the wing, injuries and the subsequent struggle back to form is your enemy, you can see it in Pedro's game.

http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3277/la- ... an-pele-di

Former Barcelona striker Jose Antonio Zaldua has claimed that Lionel Messi is the finest player the game has ever seen, insisting that even Pele, Alfredo Di Stefano, Diego Maradona and Johan Cruyff do not compare to the diminutive Argentine.
Don't Miss

Messi became the first player to score five goals in a Champions League game during his club's 7-1 demolition of Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night and his feat has been lauded by pundits and ex-pros around the world.

The debate is now raging over just where the Rosario native stands in the list of the all-time greats but Zaldua is of the opinion that Messi has no equal.

"Messi is the best player I've seen in my life," the 70-year-old Spaniard told Sport. "I've seen Pele, Di Stefano, Maradona and Cruyff but nobody like Messi.

"This ease with which he scores. He does it all so easily; I have not seen anything like it.

"I have not seen anyone like Messi. There is just no end to him. He is a phenomenon, an extraterrestrial.

"He will destroy and kill all the records that we have or might have. He is a marvel."

Zaldua was also full of praise for Barca coach Pep Guardiola, who he is praying will commit his future to the club beyond the end of the current campaign.

"We have the best coach in the world," the former forward enthused. "There is much merit in what he is doing and I hope that he has many years [at the club]."

Zaldua spent 10 years at Camp Nou before departing for Sabadell in 1971.

^^With both feet. And it's harder to chip the ball accurately with the "off" foot than it is to pass or shoot IMHO

So much for him being chronically left footed

^ Messi has scored many goals with his right foot, only the haterz say he depends on his left foot...In the words of Asrene Wenger, Messi is a true Playstation Footballer!

In weekend news, Messi scored a brace against struiggling Racing Santander in a 2-0 win for Barca on Sunday. However with only 12 matches to go in the La Liga, Barca still remains 10 points behind RM as their recorded a close 3-2 win away to Real Betis on Saturday.

Messi has registered 50 goals so far in this season! Messi now has 230 strikes for Barca, including an incredible 150 in the last three seasons (47 in 2009-10; 53 in 2010-11; 50 so far in 2011-12).

Messi has so far netted 30 goals in La Liga, 12 strikes in the Champions League, two in the Copa del Rey, three in the Spanish Supercopa and two in the Club World Cup, as well as one goal in the European Supercup.

The Barcelona star needed a total of 42 games to net his 50 goals in six different club competitions.

Forca Barca

with the economy and all looks like messi is trying to save

he's probably thinking: 'this thing [keeping/saving] does look real hard. lemme try a ting'.

Image

srsly though, i remember thinking this time last yr: cant afford to lose pts. c'mon barca.
but now is: why cant they lose a couple??? they actually have a decent front line this yr. with kaka, ozil, cristina, and higuain all in form and no real injuries to talk about.
we still looking good though. at least we didnt have to buy all our players!
bye bye la liga
crossing fingers still
