Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas faces a struggle to return to the starting line-up after recovering from injury, with manager Jose Mourinho acknowledging the form of Diego Lopez has given him a selection headache.

Casillas, 31, suffered a fracture in his hand during a Copa del Rey game for Real in January, prompting Los Blancos to fast track the signing of Lopez.

But the former Sevilla keeper's success as Casillas's replacement has increased speculation that the Real captain could be released in the summer  and Mourinho confirmed it will be difficult for Lopez to be ousted from his position.

they have to flippin be on drugs to even flippin think that....I don't care how flippin good Lopez temporarily is....no one is better than Casi and no one deserves to be on the team more than he does....they better do not repeat the same injustice that was done to Raul during the Galacticos era....especially with Barca on the hunt for a new GK....

flippin crazy!!!!

to even think that casillas will go to barca is absurd. i dont think he will take too kindly to being benched though

to even think about benching him is even more absurd....if they do release him and if he does go....i won't even blame him....Real Madrid would have deserved it....

To be real, even in the days before Lopez cassi wasn't ontop his game.

Will he leave? No Perez and karanka will never let cassi go but even they have attmited cassi isn't ready for a match yet.

Personally I think Lopez will outclass him for the rest of this season but I'd hate to be mou to choose between the two who goes between the sticks. Maybe cassi for liga games and Lopez for copa and CL?

I expect Cassi to be between the sticks for Levante but CL it's definitely gonna be Lopez. He has had a gr8 return in the white >>>

in a perfect world perhaps that solution may be acceptable....but everyone knows Mou has a grudge against Casi….plainly seen when he benched him for Adan….and well we all know how that panned out….

I agree that Casi has not been himself….but does a few bad games or even a bad season erase the legend that is Iker Casillas…definitely not….

There is nothing but open arms in Barca for Casillas, jus sayin'

I have the utmost respect for him and former striker Raul. Even above the many great players to run ball for Galacticos.

T'was expected...perhaps not by that large a margin though. It's obvious that Real benefited from one of the easier draws in this round.
