Given the existing persons in the unc party, my pick for future leadership could be sadam.

Would love for it to be Moonilal but he doesn't seem to have much national appeal so I'm guessing it's probably going to be Vandana in the long term as the safest choice. Honestly thought that UNC could have built a future with Paray post Kamla.

She's 72 now and would be 77 in 5 years time. Life expectancy for a woman in Trinidad is 74 years etc. Not sure what ailments she live with daily etc.

Look like she build a slate to maintain her control of the UNC and opposition leader if she loses.

UNC leadership elections would be later this year. This general elections is her last chance. If she wins GE, it would be the greatest political comeback story in T&T history. With that momentum, she will run for leadership elections unopposed. If she loses, the party will turn on her and maybe implode where all her "detractors" and "dissidents" would be seen as being right. We might see a new political leader later this year in this scenario.

If she does win GE and runs unopposed for internals 2025, the next leadership internals would be in 2028-2029. More than likely is at that point succession planning would take place. Could be Vandana or Saddam. Jearlean might quicker become President.

If before 2030 she decides to bow out for whatever reason, she can have internal elections to elect her chosen candidate then do exactly what Rowley did with Young. Now we have a new PM.

Silly season! UNC walking the roads in Barataria causing unnecessary extra morning traffic during rush hour. Is that really warranted?

I listened to this , laughed and said to myself how you a man who grow up most of his life in Victoria gardens know anything about struggle and real hardship. These men out of touch and if the black man allow himself to be to be fooled by such thinking PNM is a black ppl party...they deserve whatever comes for the next five years if they win

This morning I had to pass both the Tunapuna UNC and PNM St Augustine Constituency offices which are both on the EMR and both had music trucks and entire posses with flags, I guess to start walkabouts.

My main concern wasn't traffic but about that amount of people with the time in the day to go campaign.

Kamla's slate not bad, she balanced some youth in the mix - so it's not all a bunch of old farts.

It remains to be seen if her alignment with PEA will backfire with some of the current UNC supporters who don't like him or his approach to politics.

I suppose he's running on a UNC ticket? What does that mean for PEP?

But generally, I expect nasty behaviour on both sides for the next 3 weeks.

PEP in seats where they not going to win and probably not in the UNC's strategists models for a path to victory. So at best we will see her offering a bone of a senatorship or two and maybe some inconsequential ministries (ofc the big "if" being the favourability of the UNC)

PRIME Minister Stuart Young said the no taxation measure on pensions for the public service which he announced on April 2 will not apply to parliamentarians, former PMs and MPs and those covered by the Salaries Review Commission.

Responding to media at the post-Cabinet media briefing at Whitehall on April 3, Young said he had discussed the issue with the Cabinet.

“It is not meant to cover Parliamentarians and former PMs. It is the public servants, those who have come up through the ranks of the public service, who have been permanent in the public service, where there is a specific act that applies to them. More details will be provided.”

Mickela Panday has filed nomination papers to contest the Couva North seat that her father Basdeo Panday held from 1976-2010.

She would be going against UNC's Jerlean John

epips transferred to your account.

I will be staying tuned to see how she does in the election. There will be no more bullying from my end now that she has to face the electorate.

This actually going to be a nice springboard for Jerlean to take control of the party in the future, to defeat Panday and get the stamp of approval by the heartland seat of the UNC. Can't ask for a better campaign story.

just want to big up this young lady Afifah Mohammed for her bravery and courage to go, ignore all the carnival trucks and revelry in the background, and GO STRONG to file her nomination papers.

https://www.loopnews.com/content/afifah ... plit-votes

Watch the video and you will see the conviction in her eyes, words and actions today. Win lose or draw, that is what our country needs more of. Not just kekekekeing and tearing down each other like pantymen, but courage to put yourself out there in public and in the line of fire for your beliefs

big ups to add the candidates that fighting the fight without a giant patronage network carnival truck behind them.

Terrence Deyalsingh is very irresponsible and inconsiderate with his show and disturbance days before the Sea exam while filing his nomination papers.
