Yeah, this is my third pair that has been at it every couple mths.
They have all bred in my tank and the eggs hatch. I dont even bother to catch the pair and see if i get the young ones to grow out. The reason is i really dont have the time to grow out rotifers to feed the young ones. Newly hatched out brine shrimp are still to large for the young fry to eat. I also have some pajama cardinals that breed every 2 mths which the male always has the eggs and fry in his mouth.

Anyone ever try a bare bottom tank? Since mine is a fowlr was considering it... heres my reasoning... i have to build a rack to stack my tanks since space in the garage has become an issue: the plan*** just an idea

top tier- 62x18x18 fresh (eventually gonna be a fowlr as well)

2nd tier- my 36x20x22tall fowlr

Bottom tier- the canister filter for the fresh and the 36x14x18tall sump

Plus when i do turn the 5foot tank to a sw i would build New sump wet dry so id have 1 with liverock and deep samd bed next to a wet dry and experiment to see which works btr for me

So i got the fish from cck ... thanks btw they are doing fine started to eat this morning... im thinking since its a small 22 gallon tank i might set up the chiller and try a lil reef setup... so questions i have are what would i need to buy

Lights- led or t5 (try not to kill me with the price)
Doser?
Cal reactor?

And can i set up the return pump so that it passes through the chiller and then to the main tank or do i have to send it to the sump, im not familiar with that aspect of he set up

Hey guys hear this... i got a chiller from raj earlier this year and im now setting it up... i lost the directions but it seems straight forward except there is no direction on the unit saying which way is in and which is out... would there be an issue if its set up in the wrong direction? And i lost raj number again...

Usually there is a direction indicated. it might be a raised arrow. Doesnt the manual say?

it takes a long time to see a drop. It all depends on the size chiller and the water volume you trying to chill. What size chiller is it and whats your water volume. The water from the pump passing thru the chiller does not have to be fast

I slowed down the flow and moved where the return is, its 1/13 for about 25gallons... so id check back tomorrow, if it doesn't drop id change the direction of flow to see if thats the problem... i cld also shorten the return line to try that

kyhamil wrote:The temp drop to 78 at night and 80-1 during the day

78F = 25.5C
81F = 27.2

Thats not bad............. I have mine set at 78. When it reaches 80, it trips back on and drops it back down to 78 and trips off.
The big question is where you have your chiller placed. All around the chiller must be free for air circulation or it will overheat and not work efficiently. How it should also work is due to the daylight heat, the chiller will be on longer due to heat from multiple factors......lights, heat from pumps etc. And in the night due to the lights off and stuff, the chiller will trip on less.
