Nice work Frank, I wouldn't say crime wave, the last 4 months have been 60+ on 3 occasions.

So more like new average has been established.

Two months of 60 would put us at 630

Yes, but on its own it is sufficient.

"As a readily measurable indicator, [intentional] homicide is both a reasonable proxy for violent crime and a robust indicator of levels of violence.."

Specific crimes such as home invasions, kidnapping, etc should be measured by people responsible for analyzing these details, and making policies and decisions, eg the PM, Minister, CoP, Criminologists, etc. For the regular joe like me, murders are a "robust indicator of levels of violence".

agreed
murders are certainly a key indicator, however in the past under commissioner williams I recall he saying something about homicides/murders were gang related and giving the impression that once you not involved in that line of business then you safe from crime in general
this is definitely no longer the case

a gang related murder is not very related statistically to home invasions and general robberies
apart from the fact that many home invasions are committed by the same organized gangs.

Good work FrankChag.

Now for the "all hands on deck" and "measures will take time" speeches.

Doesn't benefit them in any form to listen. That means that they have to actually do work which they are being paid to do. Especially where regardless of performance ppl will reward them and re elect them for another five years.

Heard on a radio station the reason for high rates of crime is the opposition not working with the government.

bringing new laws not going to help much,
I dont think anybody or few has been convicted under the much ballyhooed antigang legislation

crime detection rates are poor, police for the most part are hard working but operate a certain level which is just not enough and the leadership is not there to go after criminals who operate smarter and smarter
the police know who and where the criminals are but dont have the wherewithall to go after them or let them know what time of the day it is.

for example in my experience
my parents suffered a bad daytime home invasion earlier this year
the task force cops who came on the scene immediately and were looking at the cctv footage immediately identified a car which was constantly circling the block and had arrived at the same exact time as the getaway(stolen) car. They knew the driver as a senior gang member who recruits youngsters to commit crimes.
yet nothing was done and when I mentioned it to the senior insp my local station he was not interested in that information.

as fate would happen, I happened to go to a gas station a week later and the same car was in front of me
I took pics of the car and person and again showed the detective this information to no avail.

furthermore later this year there was an attempted hit on the leader of a pos gang, when I googled his name
I saw that in his previous charges he was held with several others for ar15 possession sometime ago and one of the pics of them was the same guy I saw in front of me.
again I gave the cops this information with nada motions.

imagine I could just happen to work out this "intelligence" on my own and I not working CID or in those areas to know the bosses who run things.

one thing for sure under GG he had MH going in them holes after them pests to let them know they know where they are

How about ppl with multiple businesses(fronts) that generating little or no revenue but the businesses continue to exist. Until we get serious and start clamping down on these kind of initiatives then crime will always remain unabated.
